Straits Interactive Unveils ‘The AI Factory’ Guide to Empower SMEs with Generative AI Capabilities

TLDR: Straits Interactive, in collaboration with Golden Gate University, Eduvate Hub, and upGrad, has launched ‘The AI Factory – AI Capability Guide for SMEs.’ This guide aims to help non-technical professionals and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Singapore adopt and integrate Generative AI into their business processes, aligning with Singapore’s vision of cultivating ‘AI Bilingualists.’

SINGAPORE – Straits Interactive, a prominent Edtech provider specializing in Generative AI-driven governance solutions, has officially launched ‘The AI Factory – AI Capability Guide for SMEs.’ This groundbreaking resource, developed in collaboration with esteemed partners including Golden Gate University (GGU), Eduvate Hub, and global skilling company upGrad, is designed to equip non-technical professionals and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) with the essential knowledge and tools to effectively harness the power of Generative AI. The guide was officially released on November 11, 2025, during a launch event held at the Holiday Inn Express (Novena) in Singapore. The event was graced by Mr. Patrick Tay, Member of Parliament and Assistant Secretary-General of the National Trade Union Congress (NTUC), who served as the Guest of Honour.

The ‘AI Factory’ initiative is a direct response to the growing need for practical AI adoption strategies within the SME sector, particularly for those without extensive technical backgrounds. The guide provides a step-by-step framework for integrating Generative AI into core business processes, reflecting Singapore’s strategic push to build a digitally ready workforce. It aligns seamlessly with Singapore’s National AI Strategy, emphasizing the development of ‘AI Bilingualists’ – individuals proficient in both their industry expertise and the language of Generative AI.

The book’s authorship includes Singapore-based Kevin Shepherdson and Celine Chew, both doctoral candidates in the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program at Golden Gate University (GGU) with a specialization in Generative AI. They collaborated with Professor Jay Gonzalez, Vice Provost for Global Affairs and Founding Dean of GGU Worldwide. Professor Gonzalez highlighted GGU’s unique position in San Francisco, the ‘AI capital of the world,’ and the significant contribution of Singapore-based senior executives and SME leaders in their DBA program. He stated, “By combining their expertise with the transformative potential of Generative AI, these executives are now able to create practical and impactful AI solutions. The book, The AI Factory, is a testament to how our doctoral candidates leverage their professional experience alongside cutting-edge AI tools to drive business innovation.”

In addition to its collaboration with GGU, Straits Interactive has also partnered with the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME) and SMU Academy. The ‘AI Factory’ guide will serve as a key teaching resource at SMU Academy, which is planning to launch new industry graduate diploma programs focused on AI, with one new program slated for 2026. Mr. Patrick Tay, in a message within the playbook, underscored the importance of viewing AI not as a “replacement challenge, but as an augmentation promise,” advocating for workers to feel empowered rather than displaced. He urged leaders to invest in training and a just transition, ensuring that human resource functions and worker development are strategic.

The metaphor of the ‘AI Factory’ draws inspiration from the industrial revolution, suggesting a similar transformative shift from manufacturing physical goods to producing intelligence, driven by data, algorithms, and computing infrastructure. This initiative is poised to be a foundational guide for non-technical professionals, offering actionable tools and insights to help them thrive in an increasingly AI-powered business environment.
