Utilities Gain Enhanced Grid and Customer Intelligence Through TechBlocks and NET2GRID Partnership

TLDR: TechBlocks, a leader in cloud-native engineering for utilities, has partnered with NET2GRID, an AI-powered energy analytics company. This collaboration aims to help utility clients move beyond smart meter deployments to achieve true grid and customer intelligence by combining TechBlocks’ cloud platform expertise with NET2GRID’s EnergyAI SaaS solution. The partnership will enable detailed household energy profiles, improved operational reliability, and enhanced customer engagement by leveraging AMI 2.0 and Itron Distributed Intelligence meters.

TORONTO – TechBlocks, a prominent leader in cloud-native engineering and operational modernization for the utilities sector, has officially announced a strategic partnership with NET2GRID, an innovative AI-powered energy analytics company. This collaboration, revealed on September 2, 2025, is set to revolutionize how utility clients leverage their Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) 2.0 data, moving beyond basic smart meter deployments to achieve comprehensive grid and customer intelligence.

The partnership integrates TechBlocks’ extensive expertise in cloud platforms, Operational Technology (OT) systems, Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), preventative maintenance, grid operations, and asset-intensive engineering with NET2GRID’s cutting-edge EnergyAI SaaS solution. The NET2GRID platform is renowned for its capabilities in Electric Vehicle (EV), solar, and battery detection, load disaggregation, and generating detailed household energy profiles directly from AMI 2.0 and Itron Distributed Intelligence meters.

This synergy of grid-edge analytics and enterprise integration will empower utilities to feed critical intelligence into their OT platforms, including ADMS, SCADA, and Outage Management Systems (OMS), thereby significantly enhancing operational reliability. Simultaneously, the partnership facilitates seamless connection to Customer Data Platforms (CDPs), establishing a single, unified source for customer engagement.

Key benefits of this collaboration include:

Customer-centric and operational impact: Utilities can transform AMI data into actionable insights, enabling EV-only Time-of-Use (TOU) tariffs, proactive high-bill alerts, and personalized engagement nudges, all while bolstering grid reliability.

DER visibility at scale: The solution provides the ability to identify behind-the-meter Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) such as EVs, Photovoltaic (PV) systems, and energy storage. This enhanced visibility allows for better management of transformer loads and more effective planning for renewable energy integration.

Lower cost-to-serve: By offering personalized insights without the need for new hardware, the partnership aims to reduce call center volumes and foster greater customer trust.

Rapid delivery: TechBlocks’ specialized engineering pods are designed to integrate NET2GRID analytics into existing utility portals, Customer Information Systems (CIS), CDPs, and field workflows in as little as 90 days.

Edge and OT integration: With analytics processed directly on Distributed Intelligence (DI) meters and delivered into OT systems, utilities will gain real-time, grid-edge intelligence. This is expected to improve outage management, optimize load balancing, and enhance preventative maintenance strategies.

Sean Bredin, Managing Director Emerging Markets at TechBlocks, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “Utilities are sitting on massive datasets they can’t fully leverage. Together, we’re helping them unlock EV and DER insights that improve reliability, reduce costs, and create new customer value.”

For utilities utilizing Itron-enabled infrastructure, including major players like PG&E, TECO, BC Hydro, EDF, and GRDF, this partnership extends the value of their existing AMI 2.0 investments. It unlocks new operational and customer use cases without necessitating the replacement of core systems.
