Dubai, UAE – The UAE Public Prosecution is taking a significant leap towards integrating artificial intelligence responsibly into its operations, as it prepares to unveil its groundbreaking AI Ethics Charter and Governance Policy at GITEX Global 2025. The prestigious event, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from October 13 to 17, 2025, will serve as the platform for showcasing an integrated suite of smart digital solutions designed to empower the criminal justice system.
Central to the Public Prosecution’s participation is the introduction of a comprehensive ethical governance framework for AI. This framework is meticulously crafted to ensure transparency, explainability, privacy, and effective risk management in the deployment of intelligent systems. A core principle underpinning this initiative is the unwavering commitment to maintaining human oversight at every stage of AI integration, thereby strengthening decision-making quality and fostering public confidence in the justice system’s use of advanced technology.
Counsellor Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney General, underscored the importance of this strategic direction, stating, “The Public Prosecution reaffirms its commitment to accelerating the pace of criminal justice and to the responsible use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies as enablers of judicial decision-making, within a robust governance framework that upholds transparency, explainability, and privacy, while keeping humans in the loop.” He further added that their presence at GITEX aims to translate innovation into measurable, practical outcomes that enhance justice, uphold the rule of law, safeguard rights and freedoms, and strengthen public confidence.
Beyond the ethical framework, the UAE Public Prosecution will showcase several forward-looking projects aligned with its ‘Prosecution of the Future 2045’ and ‘AI Strategy 2025–2030’. These include the ‘Virtual Prosecutor Assistant Project’, designed to streamline case progression from reporting to resolution through secure digital audit trails, providing instant access to accurate information and real-time legal references. Another key initiative is the ‘Legislation Digitization Project’, which transforms legal texts into machine-readable, AI-powered formats, enabling faster charge classification, automated judgment execution, and precise analytics.
The event will also mark the pilot launch of the ‘Smart Translation Center ‘Bayan”, an AI-driven platform offering real-time two-way voice and text translation with dialect recognition, including the Emirati dialect, for investigations and trials. This center aims to enhance judicial efficiency and ensure accuracy in multilingual legal contexts.
