TLDR: The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has launched USAi, a new secure generative artificial intelligence evaluation suite. This platform is designed to enable federal agencies to experiment with and adopt AI tools, such as chat-based AI, code generation, and document summarization, at no cost. The initiative directly supports the White House’s ‘America’s AI Action Plan,’ aiming to modernize government operations, enhance security, and improve public services through widespread AI integration.
WASHINGTON – On August 14, 2025, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) officially announced the launch of USAi, a groundbreaking secure generative artificial intelligence evaluation suite. This innovative platform, now accessible at USAi.gov, is set to revolutionize how federal agencies engage with and integrate artificial intelligence technologies, offering a secure, cost-free environment for experimentation and adoption at scale.
The USAi platform provides government users with direct access to powerful AI tools, including chat-based AI, code generation, and document summarization, all within a trusted and standards-aligned ecosystem. This strategic launch is a direct response to the priorities outlined in the White House’s ‘America’s AI Action Plan,’ a national strategy focused on strengthening U.S. leadership in AI through enhanced infrastructure, streamlined adoption, and coordinated federal action.
Stephen Ehikian, GSA Deputy Administrator, emphasized the broader impact of the initiative, stating, “USAi means more than access—it’s about delivering a competitive advantage to the American people.” He further elaborated, “The launch of USAi shows how GSA is translating President Trump’s AI strategy into action and accelerating AI adoption across government. USAi will put mission-ready tools directly into the hands of agencies to modernize faster, boost security, and lead globally.”
David Shive, GSA Chief Information Officer, highlighted the foundational nature of the new platform, asserting, “USAi isn’t just another tool, it’s infrastructure for America’s AI future.” Shive added that USAi is designed to “help the government cut costs, improve efficiency, and deliver better services to the public, while maintaining the trust and security the American people expect.”
Josh Gruenbaum, GSA Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner, underscored the platform’s role in fostering responsible innovation. “USAi provides a secure and collaborative environment for government employees to explore cutting-edge AI models that will make day-to-day workflows more efficient and help discover innovative solutions prior to making procurement decisions,” Gruenbaum stated. He also noted that GSA is “proud to be on the frontlines of delivering on President Trump’s call to accelerate AI adoption in government and help empower agencies to deliver enhanced services to the American public.”

The platform’s secure, cloud-based environment is designed to accelerate agency AI experimentation and support the creation of scalable, interoperable solutions aligned with federal priorities. At its launch, USAi will feature AI models from leading providers including Anthropic, Google, Meta, and OpenAI. This initiative builds upon GSA’s recent efforts to make advanced AI capabilities accessible, following earlier deals that made OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise and Anthropic’s Claude available to federal agencies.
