TLDR: The U.S. Army’s xTech Program has named six winners in its Artificial Intelligence Grand Challenge, awarding a total of $2 million in prizes for innovative data preparation solutions crucial for AI applications. The competition, a key part of the Army’s AI Implementation Plan, focused on automated data verification, validation, augmentation, and feature engineering. Winners, including top prize recipient Ozni AI, will now enter an accelerator program to integrate their technologies into Army initiatives.
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Army xTech Program, in collaboration with the Program Executive Office Intelligence, Electronic Warfare & Sensors (PEO IEW&S) and Project Linchpin, has proudly announced the six winners of its Artificial Intelligence Grand Challenge. This prestigious competition, which concluded with a total prize pool of $2 million, sought cutting-edge data preparation solutions vital for advanced AI applications within the military.
The challenge specifically targeted innovations in automated data verification and validation, as well as data augmentation and feature engineering. These solutions are critical for enhancing the accuracy and performance of AI systems, while simultaneously reducing development time and costs across Army operations.
Led by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisitions, Logistics and Technology (ASA(ALT)), the xTech AI Grand Challenge is a cornerstone of the Army’s broader AI Implementation Plan. This strategic initiative aims to formalize AI processes and policies, thereby improving performance, lowering lifecycle costs, and scaling the impact of AI technologies throughout the force.
Dr. Matt Willis, director of Army Innovation Programs, emphasized the significance of the competition, stating, “The xTech AI Grand Challenge reflects our enduring commitment to partnering with innovators across industry and academia to build the Army of the future.”
Prior to the final selection, finalists in the competition each received $35,000 to support the development and technical refinement of their prototypes.
The six distinguished winners and their awarded prizes are:
