TV3 Debuts ‘Misteri Di Sebalik Order,’ Malaysia’s First Gen-AI Animated Series Amidst Mixed Reactions

TLDR: TV3 has launched ‘Misteri Di Sebalik Order,’ an animated series entirely created using generative AI, making it the first Malaysian TV channel to do so. The series, which premiered on TikTok on September 6, features a capybara food deliveryman named Cap. While Media Prima has previously utilized AI in productions like FlyFM’s AI radio DJ and AI-generated Azan visuals, ‘Misteri Di Sebalik Order’ has faced negative public feedback regarding the use of AI over local artists.

TV3 has made a significant stride in broadcast innovation with the launch of ‘Misteri Di Sebalik Order,’ an animated series fully produced using generative artificial intelligence. This pioneering effort marks TV3 as the first Malaysian television channel to venture into AI-generated animated content. The series began airing exclusively on TikTok, specifically on the @aiseyymentv3_ account, starting September 6, 2025, with new episodes scheduled for every Saturday at 8 PM.

The inaugural episode, approximately 1 minute and 54 seconds in length, introduces viewers to Cap, a capybara working as a food deliveryman. The plot quickly unfolds as Cap develops feelings for a customer named Meknab, a rabbit-like character, hinting at an underlying mystery.

This is not the first instance of the Media Prima group, TV3’s parent company, incorporating AI into its productions. In 2023, FlyFM introduced Aina, Malaysia’s first AI radio DJ. Earlier in 2025, generative AI was also employed to create the visuals for the Azan call broadcast on both TV3 and TV9.

However, the reception for ‘Misteri Di Sebalik Order’ has been largely negative since its TikTok debut. Social media users have voiced strong criticism regarding TV3’s decision to use AI for animation, particularly in a country with a vibrant community of local artists. This reaction contrasts with the experience of the KRU group, who were the first in Malaysia to produce an AI-generated music video without similar backlash.

The broader entertainment industry is increasingly exploring AI in production. Netflix, for example, utilized AI in 2025 to create special effects scenes for its series ‘The Eternauts,’ reportedly achieving significant cost savings. Disney has also experimented with AI but has been hesitant to implement it in major productions, fearing public criticism.
