Bengaluru, India – July 11, 2025 – In a significant move set to reshape the landscape of automotive software development, Tata Elxsi, a global leader in design and technology services, and Synopsys, a pioneer in silicon-to-systems design solutions, today announced a strategic partnership. The two companies have formalized their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the SNUG India 2025 event in Bengaluru.
This alliance is specifically designed to deliver advanced automotive virtualization solutions, a critical component in the rapid evolution of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs). The core objective is to provide automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers with pre-verified, integrated solutions that simplify the design and deployment of virtual Electronic Control Units (vECUs). These vECUs are fundamental to efficient software development and testing in modern vehicles, allowing for robust validation without the immediate need for physical prototypes.
The collaboration brings together Tata Elxsi’s extensive engineering capabilities in embedded systems and integration with Synopsys’ industry-leading virtualization solutions. Synopsys’ technology is already widely adopted, serving over 50 global automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. This synergy is expected to significantly reduce development complexity and costs, enhance the quality of software systems, and de-risk vehicle production timelines.
Marc Serughetti, Vice President, Synopsys Product Management & Markets Group, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, “The automotive industry’s transformation to software-defined vehicles requires advanced virtualization capabilities from silicon to systems. Both companies are already engaged in collaborative programs with several global customers. These initiatives focus on enabling vECUs, facilitating software bring-up, integrating Board Support Packages (BSPs), and conducting early-stage software validation. The solutions are being deployed across various vehicle domains, including powertrain, chassis, body control, gateway, and central compute functions. This allows customers to simulate real-world scenarios and validate software early, significantly reducing reliance on costly and time-consuming physical prototypes.
