TLDR: TandemAI has successfully closed a $22 million Series A extension funding round, bringing its total capital raised to over $80 million since October 2021. This new investment will fuel the expansion of its AI and physics-based computational drug discovery platform, which integrates wet lab capabilities to accelerate the development of novel therapeutics, including small molecules, peptides, and antibody-peptide conjugates.
TandemAI, a leader in AI-driven drug discovery, has announced the successful completion of a $22 million Series A extension funding round. This latest investment significantly bolsters the company’s efforts to further develop and commercialize its innovative drug discovery platform, which uniquely combines advanced artificial intelligence, sophisticated physics-based computational methods, and robust wet lab capabilities. The round saw participation from both new and existing investors, underscoring strong confidence in TandemAI’s strategic vision and operational execution.
Since its inception in October 2021, TandemAI has rapidly grown, accumulating over $80 million in total funding. The company boasts a substantial team of more than 300 professionals dedicated to leveraging its AI-powered, fully integrated drug discovery engine. This integrated approach has already yielded impressive results, with over ten high-value, highly differentiated drug candidates now either in or poised to enter clinical development. These candidates span various modalities, including small molecules and peptides.
Strategic partnerships have been a cornerstone of TandemAI’s success, with collaborations established with four of the world’s top ten multinational pharmaceutical companies. The company has also cultivated a broad network of more than 150 global partners and clients, demonstrating its widespread impact and industry recognition.
Commenting on the funding, Peter Zhao, Managing Director at V-Capital, stated, “TandemAI has successfully executed on its approach to build and commercialize a powerful drug discovery platform by integrating AI and physics-based computational technologies with wet lab techniques. With this funding, the company and its outstanding team are well positioned to grow its existing small molecule business and, with the recent merger with Perpetual Medicines, capitalize on the significant emerging opportunities in peptide and antibody-peptide conjugate discovery.”
KHK Fund echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the critical role of advanced technologies in modern drug development: “AI and advanced physics-based methods are now essential for drug discovery. TandemAI’s platform has notably enhanced R&D efficiency and success rates in small molecule and peptide drug discovery, driving rapid growth even during the pharmaceutical market downturn. We are pleased to support the company’s continued growth.”
