TLDR: The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Pune Affiliate recently hosted a Prajna webinar series session titled ‘The Dawn of Agentic AI,’ featuring Shweta Mani Ashok, an AI cloud DevSecOps architect at Capgemini. The session delved into the evolution of AI, highlighting Agentic AI’s capacity for autonomous operation, goal pursuit, complex decision-making, and adaptability, marking a significant leap beyond traditional AI systems.
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Pune Affiliate successfully launched its Prajna webinar series, ‘Establish | Execute | Expand,’ with a compelling session titled ‘The Dawn of Agentic AI.’ The webinar, held on September 5, 2025, featured Shweta Mani Ashok, an AI cloud development security operations (DevSecOps) architect at Capgemini, who provided deep insights into the architectural foundations and future implications of intelligent systems.
Prerna Amarnani, representing the SWE Pune Affiliate, hosted the session, setting the stage with an overview of SWE’s mission to empower women engineers and foster an environment of growth and inclusion.
Shweta Mani Ashok’s presentation began with a powerful exploration of what truly defines intelligent systems, tracing the historical progression of AI from machine learning and deep learning to generative AI, and now, to the emerging field of Agentic AI.
She meticulously outlined the core characteristics that distinguish Agentic AI: autonomy, goal-oriented behaviors, complex decision-making, high adaptability, and environmental perception. Unlike traditional Agent AI, which is designed to merely execute tasks within defined parameters, Agentic AI is built to ‘achieve’ – operating autonomously, pursuing goals, making intricate decisions, and adapting to dynamic environments. Mani Ashok emphasized that this represents ‘a transformative leap toward machines that can think, plan, and succeed independently.’
Her talk provided a comprehensive understanding of how these intelligent agents are designed and deployed within cloud environments. The discussion underscored Agentic AI’s potential to fundamentally reshape industries, redefine the nature of human-machine collaboration, and unlock unprecedented levels of autonomy and intelligence across various sectors.
