Singapore Grants Landmark Approval for First Agentic AI Clinical Assistant

TLDR: Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has granted Class A regulatory approval to AIGP Health for its “Anzu” platform, marking it as the nation’s first agentic AI-powered clinical assistant. This approval paves the way for wider adoption of AI tools designed to reduce administrative burdens on doctors while ensuring human oversight in medical decision-making.

Singapore has taken a significant step in integrating artificial intelligence into its healthcare system with the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) granting Class A regulatory approval to AIGP Health for its innovative “Anzu” platform. This landmark decision, announced on August 20, 2025, positions Anzu as Singapore’s first agentic AI-powered clinical assistant, designed to revolutionize administrative workflows for medical professionals.

Developed by clinician-founders, AIGP Health’s Anzu platform leverages natural language processing to offer real-time note-taking, patient data summarization, and consultation prompts. Its “agentic” capabilities extend beyond passive data capture, proactively orchestrating various tasks across the patient journey, including automated history taking, charting, triage, follow-up, and analytics. This comprehensive approach aims to free clinicians from paperwork, allowing them to focus more on patient care.

Dr. Anindita Santosa, Co-Founder and CEO of AIGP Health, emphasized the significance of this milestone, stating, “Our regulatory approval isn’t just a milestone, it’s an affirmation that technology can support, not substitute, the human touch in healthcare. It allows us to move from pilots to full deployment, easing the administrative burden for doctors and enhancing continuity of care for patients.” A crucial aspect of Anzu’s approval is its adherence to HSA’s guidelines for low-risk medical software (Class A), ensuring that all medical decisions ultimately remain with the physicians, thereby augmenting rather than replacing human judgment.

Singapore’s regulatory landscape for AI in healthcare is actively evolving, with the HSA initiating a consultation in March 2025 for a regulatory sandbox specifically for AI-based Software as a Medical Device (AI-SaMD). AIGP Health’s early approval positions it as a frontrunner in establishing a model for responsible AI adoption within this framework.

Following successful pilots in Singapore and Australia, AIGP Health plans to expand Anzu’s reach into Indonesia and Malaysia through a partnership with Borderless Healthcare Group. The company has also achieved SOC 2 compliance, reinforcing its commitment to data privacy and security as it scales its operations regionally. Future plans include developing modular, specialty-specific features and deeper integration with electronic health records.

The approval of Anzu comes amidst a broader wave of AI innovation in Singapore’s healthcare sector. Australian healthtech company Medow Health AI also launched its AI-powered scribe in Singapore in early July 2025, which is already in use across 500 clinics in Australia and adopted by 25 clinics in Singapore. Medow’s platform focuses on real-time clinical note generation, reports, and referral letters, with multilingual support for Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay, and Bahasa Indonesia. Furthermore, a 17-year-old student, John Tow, developed “SgScribe,” an AI-powered medical transcription tool that converts consultations into SOAP notes with 90% accuracy, also supporting multiple languages.
