Siemens Digital Industries Software has announced a transformative update to its renowned Solid Edge software, now officially known as Designcenter Solid Edge. These latest enhancements, including the introduction of Designcenter Solid Edge 2026 and Designcenter X Solid Edge, are set to redefine product development by deeply integrating artificial intelligence and expanding cloud-based functionalities. The updates are designed to streamline workflows, boost productivity, and foster greater collaboration among engineering and design teams operating in both on-premise and cloud environments.
At the heart of these advancements are powerful AI-driven tools. A new AI copilot assists users in quickly finding help resources using natural language inputs, while the ‘Magnetic Snap Assembly’ capability leverages AI to automatically apply constraints, significantly accelerating component placement. Furthermore, the software now boasts an automatic drawing capability that can generate up to 80 percent of 2D drawing views, including orthogonal, broken, and isometric views with dimensions, with minimal user input. The Design Copilot, a conversational AI chatbot, provides real-time, context-aware support directly within the design environment. These AI features extend to AI-assisted part modeling, automated design validation, and generative design options, allowing for optimization and prediction of potential design issues early in the process.
Cloud connectivity forms another cornerstone of the update, enabling seamless collaboration across distributed teams. Engineers and designers can now enjoy real-time access to project data, robust version control, and efficient remote design review capabilities. Designcenter X Solid Edge complements the desktop version by introducing hybrid SaaS functionality, catering to cloud-first and mobile workflows. Cloud-based settings synchronization ensures a consistent user experience across various devices, while value-based licensing offers flexible, token-based access to advanced tools.

The updates also bring substantial productivity improvements across assembly, sheet metal, and drafting functions, streamlining reuse, manufacturability, and documentation accuracy. New Part Display Configurations and enhanced Visual Explode functionality support documentation and reuse, while integrated tab and slot creation, multi-edge flange trimming, and wall thickness support reduce rework. The platform now offers stronger drafting and model-based definition capabilities, including native revision tables, automatic hole tolerancing, and support for PMI section views in 3D PDF exports, enhancing accuracy and compliance.

User experience has also seen a significant overhaul, with a more modern, personalized design environment.
