SES AI Unveils ‘Deep Space’ Agentic AI for Rapid Battery R&D in Molecular Universe 0.5

TLDR: SES AI Corporation (NYSE: SES) has launched Molecular Universe MU-0.5, featuring a groundbreaking agentic AI capability called ‘Deep Space.’ This new tool is designed to revolutionize battery research and development by performing senior scientist-level analysis and accelerating product development from years to mere minutes, significantly enhancing SES AI’s R&D as a Service offering.

WOBURN, Mass. – SES AI Corporation (NYSE: SES), a prominent leader in the development and manufacturing of AI-enhanced high-performance Li-Metal and Li-ion batteries, today announced the release of Molecular Universe MU-0.5. This latest iteration introduces a transformative feature named ‘Deep Space,’ an agentic AI capability poised to dramatically accelerate commercial product development and solidify SES AI’s first-mover advantage in the global battery industry’s R&D as a Service sector.

‘Deep Space’ is engineered to conduct in-depth, senior scientist-level battery research. Utilizing a team of large language model (LLM) agents, it analyzes complex battery questions and delivers comprehensive responses, effectively turbocharging battery R&D and product development. This innovative system slashes response times from what could typically take human scientists 6 to 8 years down to an astonishing 10 to 20 minutes. Dr. Qichao Hu, Founder and CEO of SES AI, emphasized that ‘Deep Space is intended for intense, focused deep research—enabling users to reach real commercial product outcomes.’

The introduction of ‘Deep Space’ comes just two months after the initial release of Molecular Universe, which has already garnered significant traction among battery researchers in companies, national labs, and universities worldwide. Dr. Hu noted, ‘The excitement the Molecular Universe has generated among current and potential customers is due to their early recognition of the speed of accessing relevant and abundant research insights, and significant cost savings potential due to avoided patent filings, material and equipment in trial and errors, as well as reduced hiring for R&D.’
