ServiceNow and NVIDIA Unveil Enhanced AI Automation for Telecom Sector

TLDR: NVIDIA and ServiceNow have significantly expanded their collaboration to introduce advanced generative AI solutions specifically designed for the telecommunications industry. These solutions, including ‘Now Assist for Telecommunications Service Management (TSM)’ and new AI agents, aim to boost agent productivity, accelerate issue resolution, enhance customer experiences, and optimize network operations for Communication Service Providers (CSPs).

ServiceNow, a leading digital workflow company, and NVIDIA, a pioneer in AI computing, have significantly broadened their strategic partnership to introduce a suite of advanced generative AI solutions tailored for the telecommunications sector. This expanded collaboration aims to revolutionize how Communication Service Providers (CSPs) operate and serve their customers by leveraging AI-powered automation to enhance productivity, improve customer experiences, and streamline operations.

The cornerstone of this initiative is ‘Now Assist for Telecommunications Service Management (TSM),’ built on the ServiceNow Now Platform and powered by NVIDIA AI. This solution is designed to boost agent productivity, speed up issue resolution, and ultimately elevate customer satisfaction. Features within Now Assist are driven by ServiceNow’s fine-tuned large language models, served using NVIDIA Triton Inference Server™, and customized with NVIDIA NeMo™, all components of the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform.

Beyond Now Assist for TSM, the partnership is introducing vertical-specific agentic AI solutions. These ready-to-use AI agents provide CSPs with sophisticated automation and intelligence capabilities. Designed specifically for the telecommunications industry, these agents utilize specialized frameworks and advanced reasoning to address critical challenges across the service lifecycle. Key applications include:

Service Test and Repair: AI agents analyze network data, diagnose issues, recommend solutions, and coordinate repair actions, including scheduling field engineers, leading to faster and more seamless issue resolution.

Network Incident Analysis: Leveraging AI to detect network alerts, identify root causes, and resolve service disruptions more rapidly. These agents can generate resolution playbooks and predict potential network disruptions before they impact customers, significantly reducing resolution times and improving customer satisfaction.

Billing Resolution: AI agents autonomously identify unusual usage patterns, provide real-time charge explanations, and recommend more cost-effective plans, thereby reducing billing complaints and call center volume.

According to an IDC survey, a significant 73% of global telecommunications service providers identify AI/ML investments to support operations as their top transformation priority. This highlights the industry’s urgent need for innovative AI solutions to reduce costs and uncover new business opportunities.

Rohit Batra, General Manager and Vice President for Telecom, Media, and Tech at ServiceNow, emphasized the transformative potential, stating, “GenAI is a game-changer for telcos looking to boost productivity, improve customer experiences, and drive cost savings with its ability to learn and improve with each use. Together, ServiceNow and NVIDIA will help telcos realize unprecedented business value and impact, fast. This is just the beginning of a large-scale transformation for the industry, and we’re excited to be at the forefront.”

Chris Penrose, Global Head of Business Development for Telco at NVIDIA, added, “The telco industry is rapidly evolving as AI makes its mark on enterprises everywhere. Our partnership with ServiceNow will help telcos leverage GenAI to tackle their unique challenges and build better, stronger, more efficient experiences.” John Byrne, Research Vice President, Communications Service Provider Operations & Monetization industry practice, IDC, also noted, “By combining ServiceNow’s AI-driven platform with NVIDIA’s advanced AI technology, CSPs are equipped with intelligent automation that enhances network operations and customer service.”

This collaboration builds upon an initial partnership announced in May 2023, which focused on developing enterprise-grade GenAI capabilities across various IT operations. The expansion into the telecommunications sector underscores the growing recognition of GenAI’s potential to revolutionize customer service and operational efficiency within specific industries. ServiceNow and NVIDIA are committed to developing additional telco-specific GenAI use cases based on evolving customer needs, working together to solve the industry’s biggest challenges and drive business transformation globally.
