Deutsche Telekom has officially unveiled a significant partnership with n8n, a prominent German startup specializing in open-source workflow automation. Announced at the ‘Digital X: Focus Edition AI’ event in Cologne on September 10, 2025, this collaboration is set to propel the adoption of agentic AI, primarily targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within Deutsche Telekom’s business customer division.
n8n, a Berlin-based company, has garnered considerable attention from developers and investors, boasting a valuation exceeding €1 billion. Its platform is renowned for its ability to digitize repetitive workflows, enabling the combination of various applications, interfaces, and services. A key innovation is the AI-driven code generation, requiring only basic programming knowledge from users.
The partnership will focus on developing tailored AI agents based on three distinct models: ‘Out-of-the-box’ standard AI agents for common tasks like appointment scheduling or interactive voice response (IVR) systems; a modular AI agent system allowing for custom agent flows via drag-and-drop interfaces; and fully individualized AI agent flows designed for highly specific service requirements.
Early pilot projects are already demonstrating the practical applications of this technology. For instance, in the logistics sector, AI agents are now automating the manual process of forwarding freight documents, significantly enhancing efficiency.
Maximilian Ahrens, Managing Director T Digital, Telekom Deutschland, expressed immense pride in the collaboration, stating, “We are very proud that we are working with what is currently the most prominent tech startup from Germany. With n8n’s platform and technology, we make it easy for our customers to implement AI-supported processes and future-proof their business.” He further emphasized that suitable AI solutions are available for companies of all sizes and industries, often with the goal of alleviating the workload on human employees, allowing them to focus on more complex and demanding tasks.
Deutsche Telekom has a long-standing commitment to artificial intelligence, consistently seeking partnerships to integrate the best AI solutions available in the market and foster collaborative development. The core philosophy guiding these efforts is that AI should address business challenges and enhance productivity, all while prioritizing human well-being.
