Seattle Startups Innovate with AI in Cooking, Golf, Software Development, and Personalized Shopping

TLDR: A recent ‘Startup Radar’ spotlight from GeekWire highlights four Seattle-area startups leveraging artificial intelligence to disrupt various industries. Deglaze is digitizing recipes and offering AI-powered meal planning, while GolfGuiders integrates AI assistance into a comprehensive golf platform. Insforge is building a crucial backend service specifically for AI coding agents, and So-Me.ai is developing a personal AI shopping agent to revolutionize online fashion discovery. These companies, founded between 2021 and 2025, have collectively raised over $2 million in early-stage funding.

Seattle’s vibrant startup scene continues to push the boundaries of innovation, with a recent ‘Startup Radar’ feature by GeekWire showcasing four promising companies that are integrating artificial intelligence into diverse sectors. These ventures are transforming everything from kitchen routines to golf experiences, software development, and online retail.

Deglaze: AI-Powered Culinary Organization
Founded in 2022, Deglaze aims to modernize the cooking experience. The company offers a recipe, cooking, and meal-planning application that helps users organize recipes gathered from social media, cookbooks, and websites. Its key differentiator is the integration of AI to provide guidance for meal plans, shopping lists, and cooking processes. Deglaze has successfully secured a small investment round. The leadership team boasts impressive experience, with CEO Jacob Edelstein previously serving as CTO at Seattle fintech startup Copper Banking and VP of Engineering at Curalate, alongside seven years at Microsoft. Co-founder Angel Azcarraga also held engineering leadership roles at Amazon and Microsoft, and was CTO at Spotahome.

Jessica Kamada, managing partner at Swizzle Ventures, noted that ‘Deglaze is for the cooking/baking enthusiast who finds joy in the kitchen, but wants to make it as efficient as possible.’ She highlighted its differentiation through ‘cook mode’ and a community feel, suggesting potential for monetization through a cooking creator community. Taylor Soper of GeekWire added that the app seems ‘ripe for various revenue models’ given its experienced founding team.

GolfGuiders: A Comprehensive AI-Enhanced Golf Hub
Established in 2021, GolfGuiders is creating a central platform for all aspects of golf. This includes social networking, golf course discovery, tee time bookings, e-commerce, and AI-powered assistance. The company recently launched its app and has raised $500,000. Founder Richard Hussain is a seasoned technologist with a background in healthcare startups and IT solutions architecture.

Kamada observed that ‘the golf industry exploded during COVID,’ introducing a new generation to the sport. She questioned whether GolfGuiders could ‘grow the community large enough to evolve from a free app to a premium must-have golf companion.’ Soper, an avid golfer himself, expressed curiosity about features that would drive daily engagement, acknowledging the ‘stiff competition from existing golf apps such as 18Birdies.’

Insforge: Backend Infrastructure for AI Coding Agents
Insforge, founded in 2025, is positioned at the forefront of the ‘Agentic AI’ wave. The company provides a backend platform specifically designed for AI coding agents, offering essential services like authentication, databases, storage, functions, and real-time updates. This infrastructure is optimized for AI agents, allowing users to create backend systems through natural language prompts. Insforge generates revenue through subscriptions and has already secured $1.5 million in funding. CEO Hang Huang previously served as a senior product manager at Amazon and holds an MBA from Yale, while CTO Tony Chang was a software developer at Databricks.

Jessica Kamada emphasized the significance of this venture: ‘After foundational Gen AI models, Agentic AI is the next wave. Agentic infrastructure like Insforge will be paramount to teams reaching that future faster.’ Soper highlighted that Insforge ‘combines a bunch of hot trends — AI agents, virtual coders, natural language commands, infrastructure,’ and praised its ‘slick and simple’ website.

So-Me.ai: Personalized AI Shopping Agent
Also founded in 2025, So-Me.ai is developing a personal shopping agent that learns a user’s unique style, preferences, and behavior. The software aims to transform the often tedious online shopping experience into a visual-first, curated journey. The company is currently bootstrapped and is working with a select group of private beta testers. Founder Zeynab Raeesy brings extensive experience from over seven years in applied science roles at Amazon, in addition to her work as a research engineer and speech scientist at Nuance Communications and VoiceBox Technologies.

Kamada noted the ‘obvious market opportunity in fashion search and shopping agents,’ despite the rapid entry of competitors like Daydream and Doji. She believes that if So-Me.ai can ‘differentiate on agents that truly learn shopper personal taste, they can carve out a slice!’ Soper expressed interest in the business model and the potential for a white-label solution or acquisition by a larger retailer seeking to offer more personalized customer experiences.
