Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – In a significant leap for regional technological advancement, Saudi Arabian tech company HUMAIN is poised to introduce ‘Allam,’ a groundbreaking foundational artificial intelligence model developed and trained entirely within the Kingdom. This initiative marks a strategic move to establish Saudi Arabia as a formidable player in the global AI landscape, aligning with the ambitious goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
‘Allam’ is meticulously crafted to cater to the nuances of the Arabic language, encompassing classical Arabic as well as a wide array of regional dialects including Saudi, Egyptian, Jordanian, and Lebanese. A core focus of its development has been the integration of cultural and political safeguards, ensuring its relevance and accuracy within the Arab world. HUMAIN CEO Tareq Amin emphasized this unique positioning, stating, ‘This is not just another large language model; it’s proof that the Arab world can innovate, train, and deploy AI at a world-class level, according to our own standards.’ Amin further highlighted the proprietary nature of their training data, asserting, ‘ChatGPT will never have the datasets we do.’
The model’s development was spearheaded by a dedicated team of 40 PhD-level researchers, all based within Saudi Arabia, underscoring the Kingdom’s growing domestic expertise in advanced technology. ‘Allam’ is slated for its public debut by the end of August 2025 and will be accessible through ‘HUMAIN Chat,’ a free Arabic-language application designed to offer functionalities akin to ChatGPT, but optimized for Arabic users.
This ambitious project is backed by substantial support from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), with additional contributions from Aramco Digital and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority’s National Center for AI. HUMAIN envisions ‘Allam’ as a catalyst for a broader AI ecosystem, aiming to foster a developer marketplace that will serve critical sectors such as tourism, healthcare, and government services.

Beyond ‘Allam,’ HUMAIN is actively pursuing other innovative ventures, including the development of a Saudi-designed AI computer, which combines CPU, GPU, and Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capabilities. This device is expected to be unveiled at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Riyadh in October. The company is also working on an enterprise operating system named ‘Humain One.’ The successful testing of ‘Allam’ in sensitive applications, such as ‘Sawtak’ for transcribing court session proceedings in Saudi Arabia, further demonstrates its robust capabilities and potential for real-world impact. Amin views the launch of ‘Allam’ as ‘the spark’ that can transform the Middle East from a consumer of digital technologies into a global creator of original platforms and products.
