Samsung Unveils Broad AI Integration for Smart Devices, Partnering with Google, Microsoft, and Perplexity

TLDR: At IFA 2025, Samsung announced strategic partnerships with Google, Microsoft, and Perplexity to significantly expand AI capabilities across its smart TVs, monitors, and mobile devices. This initiative, part of the new Vision AI Companion suite, aims to offer advanced conversational AI, generative features, and enhanced user experiences, with a goal to extend Galaxy AI to 400 million devices by year-end.

Berlin, Germany – September 4, 2025 – Samsung Electronics today unveiled a sweeping expansion of its artificial intelligence strategy at IFA 2025, announcing key partnerships with technology giants Google and Microsoft, alongside AI startup Perplexity. This collaborative effort is set to integrate a diverse array of AI agents into Samsung’s ecosystem, extending beyond its renowned Galaxy mobile devices to encompass its Smart TVs and monitors.

The core of this initiative is the introduction of the ‘Vision AI Companion’ suite for Samsung’s Smart TVs and monitors. This new suite promises a sophisticated conversational AI experience, complemented by innovative features such as Generative Wallpaper and Live Translate. The integration will see dedicated AI applications for Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity directly available on Samsung’s smart screens, designed to enrich the entertainment experience by providing quick access to relevant internet information and personalized recommendations for movies and TV shows.

This move signifies Samsung’s ambition to offer a wider variety of AI agents, moving beyond its existing reliance on Google’s Gemini AI, which currently powers many of its Galaxy devices. The company’s president and chief operating officer of its mobile division, Choi Won-Joon, previously stated, “We are talking to multiple vendors. As long as these AI agents are competitive and can provide the best user experiences, we are open to any AI agent out there.”

The partnership with Perplexity, in particular, has been a topic of discussion since earlier this year. Reports from June 2, 2025, indicated that Samsung was nearing a significant deal to invest in Perplexity AI and integrate its search technology into Galaxy devices. This included plans to preload the Perplexity app and assistant on the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, expected in the first half of 2026, and to embed its search capabilities into the Samsung web browser. Discussions also explored enhancing Samsung’s proprietary Bixby virtual assistant with Perplexity’s advanced AI technology. Perplexity AI is reportedly in advanced talks to raise $500 million at a $14 billion valuation, with Samsung expected to be a leading investor.

In addition to these new integrations, Samsung provided an update on the impressive reach of its own Galaxy AI. The company confirmed that its AI technology is now available on over 200 million smartphones and tablets. Samsung has set an ambitious target to expand this to a total of 400 million devices by the end of 2025, underscoring its commitment to making advanced AI accessible to a vast user base.

The announcements at IFA 2025 also included the launch of the new Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy Tab S11 series, further solidifying Samsung’s position at the forefront of AI-driven innovation in consumer electronics. This multi-partner strategy is seen as a deliberate effort by Samsung to diversify its AI offerings and potentially shift the balance of power in the mobile search and digital assistant landscape.
