TLDR: Salesforce has unveiled MuleSoft Agent Fabric, a new platform designed to unify, govern, orchestrate, and observe AI agents across diverse enterprise environments. This initiative aims to combat ‘agent sprawl’ by providing a centralized hub for managing AI workforces, ensuring security, compliance, and efficient collaboration among agents, regardless of their origin.
Salesforce, a global leader in CRM technology, has announced the launch of MuleSoft Agent Fabric, a groundbreaking platform engineered to address the escalating challenge of ‘agent sprawl’ within enterprises adopting artificial intelligence. The new offering provides a comprehensive solution for unifying and governing AI agents, enabling organizations to deploy and manage their AI workforces with unprecedented clarity and control.
The MuleSoft Agent Fabric is built upon four foundational pillars: Registry, Broker, Governance, and Visualizer. The Agent Governance capability is now generally available, offering enterprise-grade security, compliance, and policy controls for every agent interaction. This ensures that AI agents operate within defined boundaries, mitigating risks associated with data privacy and regulatory adherence.
The Agent Broker, currently in beta and slated for general availability in October, acts as an intelligent router. It organizes AI agents and tools into business-focused domains and dynamically routes tasks across them. Notably, the broker allows users to select their preferred large language models (LLMs) and integrates with industry standards such as Google’s Agent2Agent (A2A) and Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) to facilitate seamless agent communication.
Complementing these, the Agent Registry serves as a central catalog, making all AI agents and tools discoverable and reusable across the enterprise. This prevents duplication of effort and accelerates the composition of agents into complex workflows. Finally, the Agent Visualizer provides a live, interactive map of the entire agent ecosystem, offering insights into connections, interactions, and performance, thereby enhancing observability and troubleshooting capabilities.
Andrew Comstock, MuleSoft Senior Vice President and General Manager, emphasized the strategic importance of this launch. “MuleSoft Agent Fabric is taking that two decades of knowledge and skill and experience and bringing it to the genetic landscape to enable agentic enterprises or companies who want to become more agentic,” Comstock stated. He further added, “The reality is, most enterprises live in a multi-vendor world, and that won’t change with AI. Just as companies rely on countless applications across different ecosystems, they’ll soon have AI agents from every SaaS provider and every major LLM. The strategic challenge isn’t building a single agent, but enabling all of them to work together. MuleSoft Agent Fabric gives every organisation the ability to govern and orchestrate all their agents in a cohesive and trusted way.”
The platform directly addresses the growing concern of ‘agent sprawl,’ where the rapid deployment of AI agents across various platforms and vendors leads to disconnected workflows, redundant automations, compliance gaps, and security blind spots. Analyst forecasts underscore the urgency of this solution, predicting a 327% surge in agent adoption within the next two years, with nearly half of all enterprise applications expected to embed AI agents by next year. Without a coordinated approach, these agents risk becoming a fragmented and inefficient mess.
