A comprehensive report released by Nexgen Exhibitions on July 21, 2025, underscores the urgent necessity for India to prioritize Artificial Intelligence (AI) with proactive government support and substantial financial investments to fortify its national security. The findings, derived from a survey encompassing over 200 companies across 15 cities, reveal a strong consensus, with 86 percent of respondents agreeing or strongly agreeing that government intervention is crucial for leveraging AI in national security.
The report positions AI as a transformative instrument vital for safeguarding national sovereignty, particularly in the face of escalating challenges posed by electronic and information warfare. It highlights the growing threat landscape, noting that India experienced over 2.3 million cybersecurity incidents in 2024, resulting in a staggering financial loss of Rs 1,200 crore due to cyberattacks. Furthermore, the country ranks third globally in phishing attacks, trailing only the United States and Russia.
Beyond direct government investment, the report also indicates that approximately 14 percent of the surveyed companies advocate for public-private partnerships (PPPs) and incentives to spur AI innovation within the defense sector. Proponents of PPPs believe these collaborations can effectively bridge the existing AI divide in defense, ensuring the ethical integration of this advanced technology.
A critical policy gap identified in the report is the notable absence of a national AI security framework specifically tailored for defense applications. Such a framework is deemed essential for establishing robust security measures and effectively harnessing AI’s potential to enhance national security.

In a related development, Nexgen Exhibitions, through its Director Aadhar Bansal, announced that Delhi is set to host the 10th International Police Expo 2025 from July 31 to August 1.
