Mumbai, India – August 29, 2025 – In a pivotal move set to redefine India’s technological landscape, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Google Cloud today announced a significant expansion of their strategic partnership, focusing on accelerating artificial intelligence (AI) growth across the nation. The landmark collaboration, unveiled at Reliance’s 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM), centers on the establishment of a state-of-the-art, AI-focused cloud region in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
This dedicated cloud region will be a cornerstone of India’s burgeoning AI ecosystem, designed to democratize intelligence for every Indian. Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, emphasized the transformative potential, stating, ‘This partnership with Google Cloud marks a new chapter in India’s technology journey. By bringing Google Cloud’s AI capabilities to Jamnagar, supported by Reliance’s infrastructure, renewable energy, and nationwide network, we are laying the foundation for India to become a global leader in AI. Just as Jio and Google came together to democratize the internet for every Indian, we will now democratize intelligence for every Indian.’ He further added, ‘A decade ago, digital services became a new growth engine for Reliance. Now, the opportunity before us with AI is just as large, if not larger. Jio promised and delivered digital everywhere and for every Indian. Similarly, Reliance Intelligence promises to deliver AI everywhere for every Indian.’
The Jamnagar cloud region will be a testament to sustainable innovation, powered by Reliance’s green energy initiatives and seamlessly connected through Jio’s high-capacity intra- and inter-metro fiber network. Under the terms of the partnership, Reliance will undertake the design, construction, and powering of these advanced cloud facilities. Google Cloud, in turn, will contribute its world-class AI and compute expertise, including its advanced AI hypercomputer and integrated generative AI stack, making cutting-edge AI innovation accessible.
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, speaking virtually at the AGM, underscored the long-term vision of this collaboration. ‘Our work with Reliance and Jio has helped bring affordable internet access to millions. Now, we are building on this to help shape the next leap with AI. The AI opportunity in India is advanced. It will transform every industry and organisation, from the largest enterprises to the smallest Kirana Store,’ Pichai remarked. He also confirmed, ‘To support this AI adoption, together we are establishing a Jamnagar Cloud region, built for and dedicated to Reliance. It will bring world-class AI and compute from Google Cloud, powered by clean energy from Reliance, and connected by Jio’s advanced network.’
The initiative is poised to drive AI-driven transformation across Reliance’s diverse business verticals, including energy, retail, telecom, and financial services. It aims to provide high-performance AI-first services for a broad spectrum of users, from large enterprises and Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) to startups, developers, and the public sector.

This subsidiary will house large-scale AI infrastructure, foster global partnerships, offer AI services nationwide, and cultivate AI talent.
