This partnership, which includes PKSHA Technology’s investment in Reiwa Travel’s latest funding round, underscores a shared vision to leverage artificial intelligence to transform travel experiences.
Reiwa Travel recently secured approximately $34 million in funding, led by SMBC-GB Growth No. 1 Investment Limited Partnership, bringing its total raised capital to around $49 million. This financial injection is set to empower Reiwa Travel to make bolder investments in technology and accelerate its mission to fundamentally change how people travel through cutting-edge solutions.
At the heart of this collaboration is the integration of AI. Katsuya Uenoyama, Representative Director of PKSHA, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are truly pleased to invest in and collaborate with Reiwa Travel, a comprehensive travel agency with strengths in digital services. With the advancement of generative AI at our back, Reiwa Travel will further strengthen its “digital travel agency” capabilities and support the creation of new travel experiences. Reiwa Travel’s strategic expansion plans include building a global platform under its ‘Newt Smart Travel Plan,’ encompassing ‘smart hotel, smart flight, smart tour, smart group’ offerings. The company intends to broaden its business portfolio to include domestic travel, flight reservation functions, and global expansion, moving beyond its current focus on outbound Japanese travelers.
To accelerate its AI initiatives, Reiwa Travel is launching ‘NEW TML Labs.’ This dedicated unit will focus on investing in the ‘travel x AI field’ to develop entirely new travel booking experiences, such as generative AI-powered travel search, AI travel concierges, and dynamic pricing models. This move is expected to enhance usability, provide personalized information, and optimize travel planning for individuals.
