Redis Bolsters AI Capabilities with Acquisition of Real-Time Data Platform Decodable

TLDR: Redis has announced the acquisition of Decodable, a real-time data platform, as a strategic move to significantly enhance its AI capabilities. This acquisition aims to provide advanced streaming context and memory solutions for agentic AI systems, addressing the critical need for real-time data access and enrichment in the era of large language models (LLMs).

SAN FRANCISCO – September 5, 2025 – Redis, a leading provider of real-time data platforms, has announced a significant expansion of its artificial intelligence strategy with the acquisition of Decodable, a real-time data platform. The announcement, made during Redis Released 2025, underscores Redis’ commitment to evolving from a high-speed in-memory data store into an essential infrastructure layer for AI, particularly for intelligent agents.

Decodable, founded by data infrastructure veteran Eric Sammer, specializes in a serverless platform that streamlines real-time data ingestion, transformation, and delivery. Its technology is designed to replace complex, weeks-long custom pipeline engineering with a declarative, automatically scaling service. This integration is expected to dramatically simplify the creation of context pipelines for AI agents and modern applications.

Rowan Trollope, CEO of Redis, emphasized the strategic importance of this acquisition. “As AI enters its next phase, the challenge isn’t proving what language models can do; it’s giving them the context and memory to act with relevance and reliability,” said Trollope. He added, “As technology becomes ever more reliant on LLMs, the strategic investment we’re making in Decodable’s platform will make it easier for developers to build and expand data pipelines and convert that data into context within Redis, so it’s fast and always available in the right place at the right time.”

The acquisition is set to expand Redis’ capabilities for AI by bringing advanced streaming context and memory solutions for agentic AI systems. This includes enhanced retrieval, embedding, and real-time data enrichment, positioning Redis as a foundational component for next-generation, memory-enabled enterprise AI. The integration will initially focus on Redis Cloud, with plans to extend capabilities to Redis Data Integration (RDI) on Redis Software.

Eric Sammer, founder and CEO of Decodable, expressed enthusiasm for the future. “Joining Redis allows us to take Decodable’s vision further and get there faster,” Sammer stated. “Together, we can give developers a seamless way to connect and act on their data in real time—unlocking AI systems that are more capable, responsive, and deeply embedded in the workflows they serve.”

In addition to the Decodable acquisition, Redis also announced the public preview of LangCache, a new fully-managed semantic caching service. LangCache is designed to reduce latency and token usage for LLM-dependent applications by up to 70%, further enhancing Redis’ offerings for AI development. These advancements collectively aim to ensure that Redis remains at the center of modern data stacks, enabling instant access and faster innovation to power the next wave of AI experiences.
