Prudential Financial Advances Efficiency and Customer Engagement with Agentic AI Integration

TLDR: Prudential Financial is implementing an agentic AI strategy, powered by Salesforce’s Agentforce platform, to significantly enhance operational efficiency, empower its workforce by reducing administrative burdens, and deepen customer interactions. A beta program with U.S. individual annuity sales professionals has shown promising results, projecting substantial time savings and enabling a greater focus on human connection.

Prudential Financial, a leading financial services giant, is strategically embracing the ‘agentic economy’ by integrating advanced artificial intelligence to revolutionize its internal processes and elevate customer engagement. The company’s new agentic AI strategy, built on Salesforce’s Agentforce digital labor platform, aims to blend human expertise with cutting-edge technology to deliver industry-leading customer and client experiences.

The core of this initiative is to streamline operations and free up employees from time-consuming administrative tasks, allowing them to dedicate more time to meaningful human connections with customers. Bob Bastian, Chief Information and Technology Officer for Global Retirement and Insurance at Prudential, emphasized this vision, stating, “Prudential is exploring the art of the possible with Agentforce, aiming to alleviate manual and time-consuming tasks within our teams, empowering employees to have more time to focus on what matters most, and that’s making human connections with our customers.”

A key beta program is currently underway with Prudential’s U.S. individual annuity sales professionals, known as wholesalers. This deployment leverages Agentforce, which is directly integrated into Salesforce’s Financial Services Cloud. The AI-driven technology enables wholesalers to utilize a voice-capture capability to quickly update records, create post-meeting tasks, and update transaction information and customer preferences following interactions with financial professionals. This initial set of agentic AI use cases is projected to save Prudential’s Retirement Strategies sales teams up to a half day per week, significantly boosting productivity.

Prudential, a company with a 150-year legacy serving over 50 million customers across more than 50 countries, views this AI adoption as crucial for its ongoing evolution. The company’s vision is to expand access to investments, insurance, and retirement security, and this technological leap is seen as vital to meeting diverse and evolving customer needs. Carolynn Smith, Vice President and Head of U.S. Service at Prudential, reiterated the company’s customer-centric approach: “The customer is at the heart of everything we do. We must continue to innovate to meet customers’ broad and evolving needs.”

Beyond the initial pilot, the broader implementation of Agentforce is expected to provide a 360-degree view of the customer by organizing vast amounts of data, automate various processes, reduce call volumes, and free up teams for more complex interactions, ultimately enhancing customer retention. This strategic move underscores Prudential’s commitment to leveraging technology to ensure highly efficient and accurate customer interactions, reinforcing its position as a leader in the financial services sector.
