Petpooja Secures ₹137 Crore Investment to Advance Restaurant Technology and AI Automation

TLDR: Restaurant technology platform Petpooja has successfully raised ₹137 crore (approximately $16.5 million) in a funding round led by Dharana Capital. The capital infusion is earmarked for significant product development, enhancing AI-driven automation, bolstering customer support, and expanding its market presence across India, the Middle East, and Africa.

Ahmedabad-based Petpooja, a leading restaurant management software provider, has announced a substantial funding round, securing ₹137 crore (approximately $16.5 million to $17.4 million) to fuel its ambitious growth and technological advancements. This latest investment, described by some as a Series C round and others as an extension of its Series B, was spearheaded by Dharana Capital. Key participants in the round also included Ashish Gupta, co-founder of Helion Ventures, alongside Urban Company founders Abhiraj Singh Bhal, Varun Khaitan, Raghav Chandra, and their Chief Business Officer, Mukund Kulashekaran. Previous investors like Aroa Ventures, GVFL, Udaan, and Dr. Mayur Desai have also been involved in earlier tranches or this extension.

The fresh capital is strategically allocated to several critical areas. A significant portion will be dedicated to product development and innovation, with a strong emphasis on driving artificial intelligence-driven automation. This move is set to revolutionize restaurant operations by simplifying complex tasks and improving efficiency. Furthermore, the funding will be utilized to bolster customer support, ensuring a seamless experience for its growing clientele. Petpooja also plans to accelerate its goal of digitizing 1.5 lakh (150,000) outlets over the next two years and expand its footprint into new international markets, specifically the Middle East and Africa. Enhancing bulk procurement features for Food & Beverage (F&B) Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and scaling its supplier hub to serve over 50,000 vendors, aiming to cut bulk costs by 20-30%, are also key objectives.

Founded in 2011 by Parthiv and Apurv Patel, Petpooja has evolved from a cloud-based Point of Sale (POS) system to a comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution catering to dine-in establishments, Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs), cloud kitchens, and bars. The company currently serves over 100,000 restaurants across India, the Middle East, the United States, and Africa, spanning more than 140 cities. It boasts an impressive operational scale, processing over 7 million orders daily and handling 1.5 million daily orders with an annualized Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of $2.5 billion. Petpooja powers renowned chains such as Jumbo King, Hocco, La Pino’z, and Thalappakatti.
