TLDR: Global education leader Pearson and technology giant HCLTech have announced a multi-year strategic partnership to co-develop AI-driven learning products and workforce solutions. This collaboration aims to address the growing global skills gap exacerbated by the rise of AI, equipping individuals and organizations with the tools needed for career advancement and talent alignment in the evolving workplace.

London, UK and Noida, India – In a significant move to address the evolving demands of the AI-driven economy, Pearson, a global leader in lifelong learning, and HCLTech, a multinational technology and engineering firm, have unveiled a multi-year strategic partnership. Announced around late July to early August 2025, this collaboration is set to accelerate the transformation of learning, skills development, and workforce readiness worldwide.

The core objective of this alliance is to jointly develop cutting-edge AI-enabled learning products and comprehensive workforce solutions. The initiative is designed to bridge critical skills gaps, foster career progression for individuals, and empower organizations to strategically align their talent development with overarching business objectives.

Pearson, renowned for its expertise in content, assessment, digital learning, and workforce solutions, brings its extensive educational prowess to the partnership. HCLTech, with its robust capabilities in digital transformation, product engineering, and advanced Generative AI (GenAI), complements Pearson’s offerings, boasting over 223,000 employees across 60 countries.

Key elements of this strategic partnership include:

Joint Product Development: The companies will co-develop AI-powered education tools and services. Pearson will leverage HCLTech’s innovative platforms, including ‘AI Force’ and ‘Career Shaper™’, to enhance and expand its AI-based offerings. These will encompass digital training programs, sophisticated workforce analytics, and comprehensive career development systems tailored for enterprises, higher education institutions, and public agencies.

Internal Integration: HCLTech will integrate Pearson’s products into its own internal learning infrastructure. This includes the adoption of verified credentials through Credly, structured learning pathways, and the utilization of Pearson’s ‘Faethm AI’ platform for advanced talent forecasting and career progression within its vast employee base.

Strategic Pillars: The collaboration is structured around three pivotal areas: accelerating go-to-market strategies for new learning products, establishing a dedicated AI innovation lab to co-develop next-generation learning solutions using GenAI and Career Shaper™, and strategic talent design, leveraging combined assessment capabilities to provide actionable insights for aligning learning investments with business strategies.

Omar Abbosh, CEO of Pearson, emphasized the urgency of the partnership, stating, “Workers and employers around the world continue to be challenged by the rise of AI in the workplace. This is causing a growing skills gap that needs our attention quickly. Together with HCLTech, we will equip people with the AI-driven learning tools and the skills that help them navigate continuous change and build successful, resilient careers.”

C Vijayakumar, CEO & Managing Director of HCLTech, echoed this sentiment, remarking, “This partnership marks an exciting new chapter in our relationship with Pearson.”
