Palo Alto Networks, a global leader in cybersecurity, has unveiled a suite of strategic advancements to its Prisma SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) platform, specifically designed to address the complex security challenges posed by the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence and the evolving landscape of modern, perimeterless workplaces. These updates, initially announced in late April and early May 2025, underscore the company’s commitment to securing the full spectrum of enterprise AI deployments.
At the forefront of these innovations is the introduction of Prisma AIRS, a new comprehensive AI security platform. Prisma AIRS is engineered to safeguard the entire enterprise AI ecosystem, encompassing applications, agents, models, and data. Its robust capabilities include AI model scanning to identify vulnerabilities, posture management for optimizing AI security stances, AI red teaming for proactive threat identification through automated penetration tests, runtime security to protect against threats like prompt injection and malicious code, and dedicated AI agent security to defend against new agentic threats, including those from no-code/low-code platforms.
Further strengthening its AI security posture, Palo Alto Networks announced the acquisition of Protect AI. This strategic move aims to secure the complete lifecycle of AI applications, tackling specific vulnerabilities such as model manipulation, data poisoning, and prompt injection attacks. Protect AI’s technology will be integrated into the new Prisma AIRS platform, enabling businesses to leverage AI capabilities safely from development through deployment.
The Prisma SASE platform itself has received substantial enhancements to meet the demands of hybrid and remote working environments. A notable addition is Prisma Access Browser 2.0, described as the industry’s only SASE-native secure browser. This innovation is specifically designed to protect users from sophisticated web attacks and secure data in real-time, a critical need as businesses increasingly utilize generative AI tools. Prisma Access Browser 2.0 integrates advanced AI-powered protection, offering real-time defense against evasive and targeted web attacks, including AI-generated cloaking and SaaS-hosted phishing. It also provides real-time visibility, access control, and user coaching to prevent data leaks or breaches, leveraging LLM-powered context-based classification for sensitive data.
Additional new advanced features within Prisma SASE include Endpoint Data Loss Prevention (DLP), which improves shadow data discovery and classification accuracy while providing proactive measures against insider threats. The platform also extends App Acceleration to Branch offices, expanding support for new productivity applications and enhancing user-to-app performance through integration with Prisma SD-WAN. Furthermore, a Next-Generation Unified SASE Agent simplifies the IT experience across various SASE use cases.
These updates are particularly timely, as McKinsey research indicates a significant increase in AI adoption, with 78% of organizations using AI in at least one business function in 2023. However, most enterprise AI implementations are still nascent, highlighting the critical need for robust security solutions. Palo Alto Networks’ 2025 Unit 42 Incident Report also found that nearly half (44%) of security incidents involved malicious activities initiated or enabled through employees’ browsers, underscoring the importance of browser-level security.

By integrating AI-driven security into its SASE framework, Palo Alto Networks aims to provide enterprises with the tools necessary to securely innovate, optimize operations, and proactively manage the evolving cybersecurity risks associated with AI and modern work environments. The new SASE features, Exposure Management, and Advanced Email Security are expected to be generally available in Q4 of fiscal year 2025, which ends July 31.
