TLDR: Nuvocargo, a New York-based logistics startup, has acquired Mentum, a Y Combinator-backed company, to significantly enhance its AI agent roadmap. This acquisition aims to accelerate automation within Nuvocargo’s proprietary transportation management system, NuvoOS, benefiting shippers and carriers in the North American trade corridor.
New York-based logistics innovator Nuvocargo has announced the acquisition of Mentum, a startup previously supported by the prestigious Y Combinator accelerator. This strategic move, finalized in early October after initial discussions in August 2025, is set to supercharge Nuvocargo’s artificial intelligence (AI) agent roadmap and bolster automation capabilities within its proprietary transportation management system, NuvoOS. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The integration of Mentum’s founder, Gustavo Trigos, and his team into Nuvocargo’s research and development organization is a pivotal step. Their expertise will be instrumental in deploying AI agents across various stages of the logistics lifecycle, aiming to eliminate manual tasks and enhance efficiency for shippers and carriers operating in the North American trade corridor.
Deepak Chhugani, CEO of Nuvocargo, emphasized the rapid alignment between the two companies. ‘We started conversations in August and closed in early October — it was reasonably quick,’ Chhugani stated. ‘We built a really good bond with Gustavo, took a look at the technology they’d built, and realized we were targeting similar customers and workflows. It just made sense to bring them into our ecosystem.’ Chhugani further praised Trigos as a ‘very unique breed of founder,’ highlighting his background in Latin America, data science, and experience in building fintech and AI products in San Francisco.
Gustavo Trigos echoed this sentiment, remarking, ‘When Deepak and the Nuvocargo team approached us, it was clear we shared the same vision for how AI can transform supply chains.’ He added, ‘We’re excited to bring our expertise together and tackle various complex technical challenges in logistics, across visibility, compliance, financing, pricing optimization, payments orchestration and more.’
