Nscale Secures Additional $433 Million in Pre-Series C Funding to Advance AI Infrastructure

TLDR: Nscale, a UK-based AI infrastructure provider, has successfully raised an additional $433 million in a pre-Series C SAFE funding round. This latest capital injection follows closely on the heels of its $1.1 billion Series B round, reinforcing strong investor confidence in the company’s vision to deliver sovereign, scalable infrastructure for the AI era. Key investors include Blue Owl Managed Funds, Dell, NVIDIA, and Nokia, with some being repeat participants from the Series B round. The funding will accelerate Nscale’s global expansion and its mission to provide hyperscale AI computing infrastructure.

London, UK – October 1, 2025 – Nscale, a leading UK-headquartered AI infrastructure startup, today announced the successful closure of a $433 million pre-Series C SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity) financing round. This significant capital raise comes just days after the company secured an unprecedented $1.1 billion in its Series B funding round, marking the largest ever raised by a European AI infrastructure vendor. The rapid succession of funding rounds underscores robust investor confidence and escalating demand for Nscale’s innovative solutions in the burgeoning artificial intelligence sector.

The latest funding round attracted both existing and new investors, including prominent names such as Blue Owl Managed Funds, Dell, NVIDIA, and Nokia. These investors had previously participated in Nscale’s Series B round, demonstrating their continued belief in the company’s strategic direction and market potential.

Josh Payne, CEO and founder of Nscale, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the overwhelming support: “We’re overwhelmed by the interest we’ve received. It’s incredible to see the passion and confidence we have in Nscale is matched by key investors.” He further emphasized the significance of this commitment, stating, “This commitment to participating in our pre-Series C SAFE, just days after the close of our Series B funding, represents a powerful endorsement of our vision to deliver sovereign, scalable infrastructure for the AI era.”

Founded in 2024, Nscale rapidly pivoted from cryptomining infrastructure to focus on AI, acquiring a data center in Glomfjord, Norway, from its previous venture, Akkon Energy. This initial site, powered by hydroelectric energy and utilizing natural cooling, remains a cornerstone of its operations. Nscale’s core offering is a vertically integrated infrastructure platform that provides compute, networking, storage, managed software, and AI services through its strategically located data centers across Europe, North America, and the Middle East. The company currently operates more than 50 data centers.

Nscale addresses critical challenges faced by current cloud hyperscalers and data center providers, particularly in delivering contiguous GPU clusters at scale, ensuring energy efficiency, and adhering to stringent regulatory compliance for enterprise and government clients. Its AI-native platform is designed to support transformative AI workloads, including the training and deployment of advanced large language models.

Flagship projects include ‘Stargate UK,’ a facility in Loughton, Essex, planned to house up to 31,000 GPUs and a Microsoft supercomputer, representing a £2.5 billion ($3 billion) investment. Additionally, ‘Stargate Norway,’ a collaboration with OpenAI, aims to lease capacity at a data center in Kvandal, outside Narvik, northern Norway, targeting nearly 100,000 GPUs by 2027. These initiatives are poised to anchor the foundation of the global AI ecosystem, facilitating access to next-generation AI infrastructure for sectors such as healthcare, financial services, robotics, and autonomous vehicles.
