TLDR: London-based tech company Nothing has successfully raised $200 million in Series C funding, valuing the firm at $1.3 billion. This significant investment will fuel Nothing’s strategic shift towards developing an AI-native platform, including a highly personalized operating system and a new class of AI-powered devices, with initial launches anticipated for next year.
Nothing, the innovative London-based consumer technology company, has announced a substantial Series C funding round, securing $200 million. This latest investment elevates the company’s valuation to $1.3 billion, solidifying its status as Europe’s newest unicorn. The funding round was spearheaded by Tiger Global, with robust participation from existing shareholders such as GV, Highland Europe, EQT, Latitude, I2BF, and Tapestry. New strategic backers include Indian entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath and Qualcomm Ventures.
The capital infusion is earmarked to accelerate Nothing’s ambitious innovation roadmap, focusing on a pivotal transition from a smartphone-centric brand to a developer of an AI-native platform. This platform aims to seamlessly integrate hardware and software into a unified, intelligent system, fundamentally reinventing the user experience.
Carl Pei, CEO and Co-founder of Nothing, articulated a compelling vision for the future of personal computing. He noted that despite rapid advancements in AI over the past three years, the smartphone experience itself has seen limited evolution. Pei stated, “For AI to reach its full potential, consumer hardware must reinvent itself alongside it. This is the opportunity we see for Nothing.” He envisions a future where operating systems are profoundly different, deeply knowing each user and becoming ‘hyper-personalised’ to individual needs. “Unlike today’s one-size-fits-all solution, a billion different operating systems will be rendered for a billion different people,” Pei added, highlighting a paradigm shift towards context-aware and proactive assistance where AI agents execute tasks on behalf of the user.
Nothing’s AI-powered operating system is not intended to be confined solely to smartphones. The company plans to extend its reach to a diverse array of devices, including smartwatches, smart glasses, humanoid robots, and even electric vehicles (EVs). The first wave of these AI-native devices is expected to launch as early as next year, with some reports indicating a 2026 timeline.
The company’s ability to control its manufacturing and supply chain is seen as a unique advantage in developing this new platform. Nothing has demonstrated significant growth since its inception four years ago, having shipped millions of devices and surpassing $1 billion in cumulative sales by the start of 2025, with a reported 150% growth in 2024.
