New Zealanders Embrace Agentic AI Amidst Growing Digital Integration

TLDR: A recent Adobe study reveals a significant surge in interest among New Zealand consumers for agentic AI tools, with 61% already engaging with or keen on adopting AI technologies. While initial familiarity with agentic AI is low, a substantial 75% express excitement about its potential, anticipating its integration into daily life within the next year.

New research conducted by Adobe indicates a notable shift in the attitudes of New Zealand consumers towards artificial intelligence, particularly concerning more advanced, autonomous AI forms. The study, which surveyed 1,001 New Zealanders as part of a broader global initiative, found that a significant majority, 61%, are either currently utilizing or are interested in incorporating AI technologies into their daily routines.

The adoption of AI assistants, software designed to answer questions and perform tasks, has already seen considerable uptake. According to the findings, 62% of New Zealand consumers have used these assistants more than once. The most frequently cited applications include researching or summarizing information (53%), conducting web searches (33%), generating ideas or recommendations (28%), and acquiring new skills (26%).

The research particularly highlights a burgeoning curiosity among consumers regarding agentic AI – systems capable of understanding intent, making independent decisions, and taking autonomous action. Despite only 25% of New Zealand consumers initially being familiar with the term ‘agentic AI,’ a compelling 75% expressed excitement about its potential once its capabilities were explained. Furthermore, nearly a third (28%) anticipate beginning to use such systems within the next year. A strong majority of respondents believe that agentic AI could significantly simplify their lives (69%) and enhance their productivity (65%).
