Navitas Semiconductor Stock Soars on NVIDIA AI Chip Collaboration, Igniting Market Debate

TLDR: Navitas Semiconductor (NVTS) shares have experienced a dramatic surge, reaching all-time highs following its announcement of a partnership with NVIDIA to supply advanced gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon carbide (SiC) power chips for NVIDIA’s next-generation 800-volt DC AI data centers. The stock’s explosive rally, up over 330% year-to-date, has sparked a fierce debate between bulls, who see Navitas as a pivotal player in the booming AI and EV markets, and bears, who caution against its high valuation and unprofitability.

Navitas Semiconductor (NASDAQ: NVTS) has witnessed an extraordinary surge in its stock price, driven by a landmark collaboration with NVIDIA. The fabless chipmaker, specializing in wide-bandgap power electronics, announced on October 13, 2025, that it has developed advanced 800 VDC GaN and SiC power devices specifically designed for NVIDIA’s upcoming ‘AI factory’ data center architecture. This strategic partnership is seen as a significant validation of Navitas’s technology and its aggressive pivot towards high-growth AI and electric vehicle (EV) markets.

The stock’s reaction was immediate and dramatic. On October 13, NVTS shares leapt 21%, closing around $9.97 amidst unusually heavy trading volume, approximately five times its normal daily average. The momentum continued, with the stock nearly doubling in value over five sessions to reach an all-time high of approximately $15.63 by October 16, 2025. This rally has propelled Navitas’s year-to-date gains to over 330%, and an astounding 520% over the past year, making it one of the semiconductor sector’s top performers.

NVIDIA’s plan to transition to 800V power rails in its AI servers by 2027 positions Navitas as a key supplier in a rapidly expanding market. Analysts estimate the AI data center GaN/SiC market could reach $2.6 billion annually by 2030, with Navitas uniquely positioned as one of the few pure-play providers. The company’s strategic shift, spearheaded by new CEO Chris Allexandre (who took the helm on September 1, 2025), also includes a new ‘Digital Power’ lab joint venture with China’s GigaDevice to develop high-efficiency power solutions for AI servers, EVs, and renewable energy systems.

However, the rapid ascent has fueled a robust bull-bear debate. Bulls champion Navitas as ‘one of the most important growth stories of the decade’ in the AI/EV chip arena, emphasizing its unique GaN/SiC focus and the powerful endorsement from NVIDIA. Some analysts have raised price targets, calling the tie-up a ‘strong endorsement.’

Conversely, bears point to the company’s rich valuation. With a market capitalization that swelled to roughly $3.3 billion by October 16, Navitas trades at a steep 30-31 times forward sales, significantly higher than the industry average of around 9 times. The company remains unprofitable, and Wall Street’s average price target is a cautious $5-6 per share, implying a substantial downside from current levels. High short interest, estimated at 25-28% of the float, and technical indicators showing an ‘overbought’ condition (RSI around 70-77, even reaching 85.25 on some days) further highlight the skepticism surrounding the stock’s sustainability at these levels.
