Motorola has expanded its g-series lineup in India with the launch of the moto g96 5G, a smartphone poised to disrupt the sub-₹20,000 market with its impressive features. The device was launched on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, and is being touted as the successor to the popular moto g85 5G.

Under the hood, the moto g96 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, built on a 4nm platform. It comes with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, which can be virtually expanded up to 24GB using RAM Boost 3.0. The device is available in two storage configurations: 128GB and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

In the camera department, the smartphone features a dual-rear camera setup headlined by a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). This is complemented by an 8MP ultrawide sensor that also functions as a macro and depth sensor. For selfies and video calls, there is a 32MP front-facing camera with 4K video recording capabilities. The camera system is enhanced with moto ai, which includes Google Photos’ AI-powered tools like Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur.

The device is backed by a 5,500mAh battery. There are conflicting reports on the charging speed, with some sources stating 33W TurboPower charging and others mentioning 68W fast charging. The phone runs on Android 15 with Motorola’s Hello UI and the company has promised one major OS update and three years of security updates.

Connectivity options on the moto g96 5G include 5G (with support for 13 bands), Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB Type-C port. The phone also features dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Moto Spatial Sound for an immersive audio experience.
