This Oxford-based artificial intelligence firm, a spin-out from the prestigious University of Oxford’s mathematics department, is pioneering hybrid AI technology aimed at enhancing military decision-making processes.
Astut Limited, founded in April 2025 by Professor Pete Grindrod CBE and based at the Culham Science Centre in Oxfordshire, specializes in developing AI solutions for transparent and auditable decision-making. Its innovative platform is designed to tackle high-stakes scenarios, particularly in defense and geopolitical contexts, where traditional AI models often fall short due to a lack of historical data.
