TLDR: Microsoft Thailand has recognized three leading Thai organizations—SCBX, SCG Chemicals (SCGC), and the Office of the Council of State (OCS)—as ‘Frontier Firms’ for their exemplary integration of AI with human workforces. This initiative, supported by insights from the 2025 Work Trend Index report, aims to elevate Thailand’s position as an AI creator by enhancing AI skills, automating routine tasks, and fostering strategic work, aligning with the nation’s ‘Ignite Thailand’ vision for 2030.
Microsoft Thailand has recently lauded three leading Thai organizations—SCBX Group, SCG Chemicals (SCGC), and the Office of the Council of State (OCS)—as ‘Frontier Firms,’ acknowledging their pioneering efforts in seamlessly integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) with their human workforces. This recognition, announced on June 25, 2025, highlights a significant stride in Thailand’s journey towards becoming a prominent AI creator in the global digital landscape.
The announcement was accompanied by key insights from Microsoft’s 2025 Work Trend Index report, which emphasizes the critical need for organizational transformation in the AI era. The report advocates for new perspectives and flexible structures that empower employees to leverage AI for enhanced productivity and strategic focus. A core recommendation from the report is the adoption of ‘Agentic AI’ to manage routine tasks, thereby freeing up human capital to concentrate on more complex and strategic initiatives.
Microsoft’s research indicates a strong trend in Thailand towards AI adoption, with approximately 68% of Thai organizations already implementing AI to automate various systems and processes in the short term. Looking ahead, 83% of executives believe that AI will enable junior employees to engage in strategic work earlier in their careers, signaling a profound shift in organizational structures and career paths.
The three recognized ‘Frontier Firms’ exemplify this transformative potential. SCBX Group is actively pursuing its goal of becoming an ‘AI-first organization,’ encouraging employees across all departments to apply AI to address real-world challenges, boost efficiency, and explore new possibilities. SCG Chemicals (SCGC) has demonstrated clear results in areas such as data processing for market intelligence and has developed ‘AILY,’ an AI tool utilizing Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service to promote widespread AI use and assist employees. The Office of the Council of State (OCS) has developed an AI project named ‘TH2OECD’ to support Thailand’s mission of joining the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
These initiatives are part of Microsoft’s broader, long-standing commitment to Thailand’s digital future. In May 2024, Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella announced significant investments to build new cloud and AI infrastructure in Thailand, provide AI skilling opportunities for over 100,000 people, and support the nation’s growing developer community. These commitments align with a memorandum of understanding with the Royal Thai Government, aiming to create a digital-first, AI-powered future for Thailand. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin emphasized that this collaboration is crucial for Thailand’s ‘Ignite Thailand’ vision for 2030, which seeks to establish the country as a regional digital economy hub, enhancing innovation, research, development, and the technological workforce.
