TLDR: Meta has officially launched ‘Vibes,’ a new platform offering a TikTok-style feed exclusively for AI-generated short-form videos. Available through the Meta AI app and meta.ai, ‘Vibes’ allows users to create and remix AI content, with cross-posting capabilities to Instagram and Facebook. The move is seen as Meta’s strategic entry into AI-first social content, though initial user reactions have been largely skeptical.
Meta has made a significant stride into the realm of artificial intelligence-driven social media with the introduction of ‘Vibes,’ a new platform dedicated entirely to AI-generated short-form videos. Launched on September 26, 2025, ‘Vibes’ is accessible via the Meta AI app and the meta.ai website, marking Meta’s boldest attempt to carve out a new category of social content, directly challenging platforms like TikTok with an AI-first approach.
The platform’s core functionality revolves around AI-powered creativity. Users can generate videos from scratch using text-based prompts or remix existing AI-generated content found in their feed. This remixing capability includes adding new visuals, incorporating different music layers, and adjusting the overall style of a video. Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch through an Instagram post, showcasing several AI-generated clips to demonstrate the platform’s capabilities.
‘Vibes’ is designed for seamless integration within Meta’s broader ecosystem. Once a video is created, users can share it directly on the ‘Vibes’ feed or send it via direct message. Crucially, the platform supports cross-posting to Instagram and Facebook Stories and Reels, leveraging Meta’s massive existing user base for wider reach and engagement.
This launch comes as part of Meta’s accelerated efforts in AI development. In June, the company reorganized its AI division into a new entity called ‘Superintelligence Labs.’ This restructuring followed challenges related to its open-source AI model, Llama 4, and the departure of key personnel. Meta aims to generate new revenue streams through this AI department, utilizing its Meta AI app, image-video advertising tools, and smart glasses. The company reported approximately $165 billion in revenue last year, underscoring the financial stakes in its AI ventures.

However, the initial reception from users has been mixed, leaning towards skepticism. Many users have questioned the necessity of an AI-generated version of TikTok. One user notably commented, ‘gang nobody wants this,’ on Zuckerberg’s announcement post, reflecting a broader resistance to the increasing proliferation of AI content on social media platforms.
