TLDR: MegaZone Cloud, an AI and cloud specialist, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to advance AI-based sustainable social innovation and community welfare in Vietnam, focusing on initiatives like landmine removal and public health improvement.
MegaZone Cloud, a company specializing in artificial intelligence and cloud technologies, announced on July 23rd that it has formalized a strategic partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The agreement, an ‘MOU for AI-based sustainable social innovation and promotion of community welfare,’ was signed at the UNDP Green One office in Hanoi, Vietnam. Key representatives from both organizations, including MegaZone Cloud CEO Dong-Hoon Yeom and UNDP Vietnam Representative Ramla Khalidi, were present at the signing.
Under this collaboration, MegaZone Cloud will serve as an official partner in UNDP’s ‘AI for Social Good’ initiative, a program designed to support developing countries. This initiative aims to address critical social and environmental challenges, such as climate change response, expansion of inclusive public services, and enhancement of governance through technological solutions.
Specifically, the agreement outlines plans for establishing ethical AI utilization frameworks tailored for Vietnamese society. It also includes efforts to develop educational programs and practical guidelines concerning AI governance and ethics. A significant focus of the partnership will be the joint exploration of applying AI technology to tackle major issues in Vietnam, including landmine removal, mitigation of air pollution, and improvement of public health.
A priority task identified is the development of a mobile application leveraging AI to prevent damage from unexploded ordnance and landmines prevalent in the central region of Vietnam. The UNDP will collaborate with Vietnamese government agencies to establish a cloud-based landmine data management system, with MegaZone Cloud contributing through its expertise in data analysis, predictive modeling, and intelligent automation technology.
