The summer school is designed to be highly engaging and impactful, offering over 250 distinct sessions. Lloyds Banking Group anticipates ‘thousands’ of its employees will participate, reinforcing its leadership in data and artificial intelligence. The curriculum is diverse, encompassing a dynamic mix of formats including expert panels, keynote talks, technical workshops, hackathons, and gamified sessions, ensuring a multifaceted learning experience.
Topics covered span the full spectrum of data and AI, from foundational concepts to cutting-edge advancements. Key areas of focus include Generative AI (GenAI), data strategy, data visualisation, machine learning, and data management. Specific sessions highlighted include ‘How Agentic AI is Changing Financial Services,’ ‘Data Storytelling with Google,’ and an accelerated ‘Google’s six-hour AI prompt engineering in 30 minutes,’ demonstrating the practical and forward-looking nature of the training.
This extensive program is an integral part of Lloyds Banking Group’s broader transformation strategy, which involves a significant £4 billion investment in technology, data, people, and operations. The bank currently boasts over 100 AI use cases in various stages—pilot, testing, or live—and has established a dedicated Centre of Excellence for AI to cultivate deep in-house expertise. The summer school builds upon earlier strategic partnerships, such as the one announced in March with the University of Cambridge and EdTech firm Cambridge Spark, which aimed to equip over 200 senior leaders with insights into navigating the rapidly evolving AI landscape. By scaling data and AI learning across the entire organization, the summer school empowers employees at every level to innovate responsibly and with confidence.
