TLDR: LINE Taiwan announced its ‘AI Agent Era’ strategy at LINE CONVERGE 2025, focusing on technological, interactive, and co-creative evolution. Key initiatives for 2026 include the launch of ‘AI Conversation Assistant’ and enhanced ‘Travel Assistant’ services, both powered by large language models. The company also plans to introduce a ‘LINE Premium’ membership, fully open its MINI App platform for revenue sharing, and deploy ‘LINE Touch’ sensing devices, all while strengthening fraud prevention measures.
Taipei, Taiwan – October 26, 2025 – LINE Taiwan has officially declared the advent of its ‘AI Agent Era,’ outlining a strategic blueprint for 2026 and beyond, centered on artificial intelligence to drive three core evolutions: technological, interactive, and co-creative. The announcement was made at the annual LINE CONVERGE 2025 press conference on October 22, where CEO Chen Li-ren emphasized the company’s commitment to integrating AI agent technology across all its services.
Technological Evolution: Ushering in the AI Agent Era
At the heart of LINE Taiwan’s technological advancement is the pervasive integration of AI agent technology. The company revealed plans to launch two significant AI assistant services in partnership with multiple suppliers:
AI Conversation Assistant: Expected to launch in the first quarter of 2026, this assistant will be integrated into LINE Official Accounts (OA Plus). Leveraging the semantic understanding capabilities of large language models, it aims to help retail and F&B brands rapidly build smart conversational services.
Travel Assistant: Utilizing generative AI to create personalized travel experiences, this service will assist users with end-to-end itinerary planning. A Japan travel recommendation version is set to debut in early November 2025, with deeper integration into LINE Travel functions planned for the first quarter of 2026.
LINE Taiwan’s R&D team is also actively developing local AI capabilities, including optimizing customer service through large language models combined with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology and evolving conversational bots into proactive ‘agent bots’ using Multi-Contextual Integration Platform (MCP) technology. The company has already launched ‘Podcast TODAY’ with Taiwanese-accented AI voices and a ‘Second Generation AI Voice Reservation Service’ that simulates human responses for booking via official LINE accounts.
Interactive Evolution: Enhancing User Engagement
To deepen user engagement, LINE Taiwan will introduce the ‘LINE Premium’ membership program in the first half of 2026. This subscription service will cost NT$165 per month and will initially offer five advanced messaging features, including advanced backup, and four exclusive benefits across the LINE family of services.
LINE TV is also undergoing a comprehensive upgrade, with ‘offline viewing’ and ‘dual subtitles’ features rolled out in October 2025, alongside new multi-player sharing plans for two and four users. LINE TODAY has been transformed into an interactive content platform, featuring a ‘Discussion Wall’ (launched August 2025) that has garnered over 500 million views and incorporates AI-powered post summarization technology to aggregate diverse viewpoints.
In the gaming sector, the new ‘LINE Walking Fun’ game is slated for a mid-November 2025 launch, gamifying daily walking and commuting to allow users to earn LINE POINTS through task completion.
Co-creative Evolution: Open Platform and IP Internationalization
LINE MINI App platform will transition from an application-based system to a fully open platform in the fourth quarter of 2025, inviting more developers and businesses to participate in value co-creation. Key enhancements include the ‘MINI Home’ service portal (launched October 22, 2025) and the ‘LINE Touch’ sensing device, scheduled for the first half of 2026. The business model will also incorporate open revenue-sharing partnerships for ‘in-app payments’ and ‘in-app advertising’.
Furthermore, LINE is making strides in local IP internationalization. The first Taiwanese original webtoon adaptation series from LINE WEBTOON, ‘Black Box,’ will premiere simultaneously on LINE TV and Netflix on October 31, 2025.
Strengthening Digital Security and Fraud Prevention
LINE Taiwan is enhancing its fraud prevention mechanisms by developing an automated reporting system that enables government and law enforcement agencies to report suspicious accounts within one second. This public-private partnership involves various government bodies and industry associations. Since May 2023, the LINE Taiwan team has addressed over 110,000 fraudulent accounts and, in collaboration with TWNIC and major telecom providers, has reported and taken down over 1,000 phishing domains, significantly reducing takedown times to within 24 hours.

LINE Taiwan is also internally adopting AI agent services and promoting them through training to boost internal work efficiency.
