TLDR: LG Uplus has invested 5 billion won in four South Korean early-stage artificial intelligence (AI) startups: Fairy, Le Mont, Techno Matrix, and Aim Intelligence. This investment, part of the company’s ‘Shift’ program and in collaboration with accelerator Bluepoint Partners, aims to build a cooperative AI ecosystem by providing not just funding but also comprehensive technological and business support.
In a significant move to bolster its artificial intelligence capabilities and foster a collaborative innovation ecosystem, LG Uplus announced a 5 billion won (approximately $3.64 million) investment in four domestic early-stage AI startups. The investment was made through a dedicated fund established in partnership with Bluepoint Partners, a deep tech-focused accelerator.
The four startups receiving the strategic investment are Fairy, Le Mont, Techno Matrix, and Aim Intelligence. Each was selected through the inaugural ‘Shift’ program, an open innovation initiative launched by LG Uplus in October of the previous year to identify and nurture promising AI companies.
Fairy, founded by AI experts with experience at Google, is developing technology for real-time user information extraction for AI agents. Le Mont is focused on creating integrated AI solutions to improve sales and marketing efficiency for small and home office (SOHO) businesses. Techno Matrix addresses the challenge of AI model sustainability by developing solutions that automate the re-learning process. Finally, Aim Intelligence is building security solutions designed to detect and block vulnerabilities within generative AI systems in real-time.
LG Uplus emphasized that this initiative extends beyond simple financial backing. The company plans to actively involve its own technology and business divisions to support the startups throughout their growth journey. This comprehensive support will include collaboration on proof-of-concept (PoC) projects, technology integration, and pathways to commercialization.
An official from LG Uplus stated, ‘This marks a significant step toward creating an AI collaboration ecosystem between large corporations and startups.’ The company’s goal is to build substantial, cooperative relationships for mutual growth, rather than merely providing one-off support.

Looking ahead, LG Uplus intends to develop its ‘Shift’ program into a broader ‘Open Innovation Platform.’ This platform will serve as a hub to connect startups with government agencies, other large corporations, and international partners, providing comprehensive support for technology validation, R&D, and global market expansion.
