TLDR: LG CNS has officially partnered with global industrial automation leader Honeywell to penetrate the U.S. manufacturing Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) market. This collaboration marks LG CNS as the first Korean company to become an official AI and IT service partner for Honeywell, aiming to jointly develop advanced AI-driven factory automation and intelligent operational solutions.
Seoul, South Korea – LG CNS, a prominent IT solutions provider under the LG Group, has announced a strategic partnership with Honeywell, a global powerhouse in industrial automation solutions, to jointly target the burgeoning U.S. manufacturing Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) market. This landmark agreement positions LG CNS as the first Korean company to be designated as Honeywell’s official AI and IT service partner, establishing a significant foothold for its expansion into the North American market.
The collaboration was solidified during a meeting on July 8th in Houston, Texas, between LG CNS President Hyun Shin-kyun and Pramath Maheshwari, President of Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) division. The two leaders agreed to embark on joint development of manufacturing AX technologies, with a strong emphasis on AI-based factory automation and intelligence.
Honeywell, renowned for its global leadership in industrial automation, aerospace, and energy sectors, brings extensive expertise in supplying factory equipment sensors, control devices, and smart solutions. Its HPS division specializes in providing products and solutions for manufacturing process automation across diverse industrial fields, including petrochemicals and pharmaceuticals.
The core of this strategic alliance lies in synergizing LG CNS’s robust capabilities in AX consulting and service implementation with Honeywell’s deep-rooted production system know-how in sensor and control device technologies. A key innovation stemming from this partnership will be LG CNS’s AI-powered problem-solving agent. This agent is designed to analyze various production facility data collected in real-time by Honeywell’s distributed control systems (DCS) within customer production plants. Upon detecting issues, it can immediately identify the cause and propose solutions, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and minimizing downtime.
Furthermore, the two companies are set to build a comprehensive ‘Manufacturing AX Platform’ aimed at optimizing the entire production process. Their initial joint development efforts will focus on a next-generation ‘manufacturing execution system (MES)’ applicable across a wide array of industries, including semiconductors, batteries, and petrochemicals. LG CNS intends to integrate AI technology into this MES to manage all stages of the production process, from planning and work instructions to material in-out management and quality control, through a single, unified system.
LG CNS President Hyun Shin-kyun emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “This collaboration is the first step for both companies to contemplate and seek technical solutions for the business innovation of U.S. manufacturing customers. LG CNS will leverage its top-level AI and smart factory capabilities accumulated over a long period to provide differentiated manufacturing AX solutions to customers.” He also noted, “This collaboration is a meaningful first step towards jointly leading digital transformation in the U.S. manufacturing industry.”
The partnership also aligns with LG CNS’s ‘AI 100 in 100’ initiative, launched earlier this year, which aims to develop 100 generative AI services within 100 days to assist clients facing challenges with AI adoption due to cost, complexity, or time constraints. This program has already seen over 200 successful implementations.
