Lenovo and Nutanix Expand Collaboration for AI-Ready Infrastructure in India

TLDR: Lenovo and Nutanix have significantly strengthened their partnership in India to provide advanced enterprise cloud and AI solutions. This includes manufacturing AI-ready servers with Neptune™ Liquid Cooling in Lenovo’s Pondicherry factory and making the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) available across India. The collaboration aims to support India’s digital transformation and its ambition to become a high-tech manufacturing hub, offering solutions for AI inference, fine-tuning, and training workloads while reducing power consumption by up to 25%.

Nutanix (NASDAQ: NTNX), a leader in hybrid multicloud computing, and Lenovo Group Limited (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) have announced a significant deepening of their collaboration in India. The partnership focuses on delivering advanced enterprise cloud and AI solutions specifically tailored to meet the growing digital infrastructure needs of the Indian market. This announcement was made during Nutanix’s annual event, .NEXT on Tour in Mumbai.

As part of this expanded collaboration, Lenovo has initiated the manufacturing of servers at its factory in Pondicherry, Southern India. This move is a key component of Lenovo’s ‘global-local strategy’ to ‘Make in India for India and for the world’. These newly manufactured servers are equipped with Neptune® Liquid Cooling technology, designed to significantly boost server processing and system speeds for AI-driven, high-performance applications. The servers are powered by Nutanix software, ensuring robust performance and integration.

Amit Luthra, Managing Director India, Lenovo ISG, highlighted the environmental and economic benefits of this innovation, stating, “This breakthrough not only drives faster AI performance but also helps enterprises cut power consumption by up to 25%, supporting both cost efficiency and sustainability goals.” He further emphasized India’s pivotal role in the global AI landscape: “India is fast emerging as a powerhouse in the global AI revolution, and Lenovo is proud to be at the forefront of this transformation with Nutanix. Together, we are delivering innovations that truly set us apart. This includes industry first liquid-cooled HCI appliances for GenAI, powered by Lenovo Neptune™ technology. With GPT-in-a-Box, powered by Nutanix software and Lenovo’s locally built servers, we give Indian enterprises a practical, powerful way to build and scale their own AI factories – from edge to cloud for accelerated growth.”

Beyond hardware, the partnership also makes the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) solution available to all customers across India. When deployed on Lenovo Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HX), NKP enables organizations to efficiently manage their containerized workloads. This platform provides essential persistent storage and rich data services crucial for business continuity, disaster recovery, and data protection. This foundational support is particularly beneficial for large Indian BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) customers, enabling them to unlock the full potential of modern applications across on-premises, cloud, and edge environments.

Lenovo and Nutanix are also continuing to deliver joint solutions, including Lenovo’s ThinkAgile HX Series with Nutanix. This series supports the Nutanix Enterprise AI (NAI) solution and the Nutanix GPT-in-a-Box solution, which are designed to enable enterprises to run AI inference, fine-tuning, and training workloads efficiently. These solutions aim to simplify enterprise cloud deployments and optimize AI workloads from the edge to the core.

Faiz Shakir, VP & Managing Director India and ASEAN, Nutanix, commented on the long-standing collaboration: “Since 2016, Lenovo and Nutanix have forged a powerful partnership, grounded in innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions for our customers. Lenovo supports every workload and vertical Nutanix does business with in India. Together we’re offering the infrastructure to help organizations across the country to implement their AI and new digital strategies, streamline the complexity in their cloud native application development, and establish consistency across any environment. This means customers can support their application and compliance requirements while knowing they have a solution that keeps pace with their developers’ needs and desire for continuous innovation.”

Lenovo’s commitment to the partnership was recently recognized with the APJ Nutanix OEM Award of the Year for FY25 performance.
