TLDR: Legal artificial intelligence platform Harvey has announced a significant initiative, partnering with six prestigious law schools across the United States. This program will embed Harvey’s generative AI technology directly into legal education, providing students and faculty with access to the platform and supporting the development of AI-focused curricula. The collaboration aims to prepare the next generation of legal professionals for the increasing role of AI in the legal industry.
Harvey, a generative artificial intelligence platform for legal professionals valued at an estimated $5 billion, has launched a groundbreaking law school alliance program. This initiative, announced on Thursday, August 29, 2025, will see Harvey’s advanced AI technology integrated into the academic programs of six prominent law schools during the 2025-26 academic year.
The participating institutions include Stanford Law School, New York University School of Law, University of Michigan Law School, UCLA School of Law, The University of Texas School of Law, and Notre Dame Law School. These schools reportedly began piloting the Harvey platform approximately a year prior to this official announcement, indicating a thorough preparatory phase for the program’s full rollout.
The core objective of this alliance is to equip future lawyers with essential generative AI skills and resources, preparing them for the evolving demands of legal practice. Students, faculty, and administrators at the partner schools will gain access to the Harvey platform. Furthermore, the Harvey team will actively support the co-creation of generative AI curricula and learning content, focusing on practical applications such as effective prompting during case preparation and reducing the time spent on preparing documents and data sources.
Dean G. Marcus Cole, the Joseph A. Matson Dean and Professor of Law at Notre Dame Law School, emphasized the critical need for this integration. “Artificial intelligence is here. It is increasingly more sophisticated and will rapidly become more integral to our work. Law firms and organizations will expect expertise in the use of AI, so it is incumbent upon us to prepare our students to utilize it effectively and ethically,” Dean Cole stated. He added, “We are excited to be a pioneer in legal education, partnering with Harvey to bring this critically important education to our students, preparing them to work for the common good.”
