According to experts from AWS and Kong, these challenges include unpredictable token usage leading to difficult cost control, manual integration of diverse LLMs hindering development speed, and limited observability into model interactions that impede optimization and governance.
Kong AI Gateway functions as a high-performance control plane, positioned between generative AI applications and Amazon Bedrock’s foundation models. This architecture provides comprehensive governance over LLM usage, ensuring that organizations can secure, govern, and optimize their AI traffic effectively. Key benefits of this integration span three crucial areas:
1. Cost Management and Governance: The AI Gateway helps mitigate unpredictable token usage by implementing automated token usage monitoring and enforcing predetermined usage thresholds. This centralized approach prevents ‘account sprawl’ and allows for effective management of user and consumer entitlements through enterprise Identity Management.
