Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of former President Donald Trump and a former White House adviser, has officially launched a new artificial intelligence venture named Brain Co. The San Francisco-based startup, co-founded with prominent tech investor Elad Gil and Luis Videgaray, Mexico’s former foreign minister, aims to bridge the gap between advanced AI foundational models and their practical application within large businesses and governmental institutions. The announcement, made on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, revealed that Brain Co. has successfully raised $30 million in its Series A funding round. This significant investment was led by Kushner’s private equity firm, Affinity Partners, and Gil’s Gil Capital.
The startup has also garnered support from a roster of high-profile billionaire angel investors, including Coinbase CEO and co-founder Brian Armstrong, Stripe co-founder and CEO Patrick Collison, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, and Palo Alto Networks chairman and CEO Nikesh Arora.
Founded in 2024, Brain Co. currently employs approximately 40 individuals. The company has already forged a strategic partnership with OpenAI, enabling it to develop tailored AI applications for its clientele. Furthermore, Brain Co. is actively pursuing collaborations with other leading AI laboratories to leverage their foundational models, as confirmed by Elad Gil and CEO Clemens Mewald in an interview with Forbes. Mewald, who previously held positions at Google Brain and Databricks, leads the company’s operational strategy.
Kushner articulated the ambitious scope of Brain Co.’s mission, describing the rise of AI as ‘a once-in-a-generation platform shift.’ He stated in a press release that the venture intends to ‘build a bridge between Silicon Valley’s best AI talent and the world’s most important institutions to drive global impact.’ Gil further elaborated on the company’s niche, identifying it as the ‘gap between the foundation models’—such as OpenAI’s GPT-5—‘and what you really need to do’ to implement AI effectively.
