TLDR: Ipsita Mohanty, Co-Founder and Chief AI Architect at QApp, has been recognized as the 2025 Rising Star Award Winner for Robotics, Automation & AI by Tech Briefs. The award celebrates her significant contributions to the field, including her pioneering work in Agentic RAG and multimodal AI systems, and her commitment to ethical and inclusive technology.

San Jose, CA – Ipsita Mohanty, the visionary Co-Founder and Chief AI Architect at QApp, has been named the 2025 Rising Star Award Winner for Robotics, Automation & AI by Tech Briefs. This prestigious accolade, announced on October 2, 2025, highlights Mohanty’s exceptional leadership and groundbreaking advancements in artificial intelligence.

Mohanty, an accomplished AI entrepreneur, researcher, and industry leader, brings a wealth of experience to her role at QApp. Her career includes pivotal positions at major technology and financial institutions. Notably, she served as Principal ML Engineer at Salesforce, where she was instrumental in spearheading the launch of Tableau Agents. This innovative system, described as a multimodal, multi-agent RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) system, revolutionized the conversion of natural language into data visualizations. Her expertise also extends to leading AI initiatives at Walmart Labs and Goldman Sachs, and she has received multiple global AI leadership awards throughout her career.

When asked about the most exciting aspect of her work, Mohanty emphasized her passion for ‘transforming how people and organizations engage with data through Agentic RAG and multimodal AI systems.’ She finds deep fulfillment in ‘bridging research, industry, and community,’ from her work on Tableau Agents to her involvement in sponsoring scholarships and organizing global IEEE AI summits. Her daily inspiration comes from ‘creating technology that is both innovative and inclusive,’ particularly when it ’empowers greater equity and opportunity in STEM.’

Mohanty also shared a significant career challenge: returning to graduate school for her Master’s at Carnegie Mellon after nearly eight years in the industry. She overcame this by leveraging her real-world expertise to enrich her academic research and collaborations, demonstrating that ‘continuous learning is key to driving lasting innovation.’

Offering advice to aspiring young women engineers, Mohanty urged them to ‘lead with both innovation and responsibility.’ She stressed that ‘technical excellence is essential, but authentic leadership in AI means designing systems that are ethical, inclusive, and trustworthy.’ Her counsel includes staying curious, advocating for fairness, and embedding integrity into their work, reminding them that ‘leadership is not just about solving problems, but also about ensuring technology benefits all communities and future generations.’
