TLDR: Informatica has introduced new AI-powered features and added support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), aiming to standardize how enterprises develop and deploy AI agents and enhance data management.
Informatica, a leading data management vendor, has announced significant advancements to its platform, including the integration of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and a suite of new AI-powered features. This move is designed to standardize the development and deployment of AI agents within enterprises, offering valuable support for customers building advanced applications.
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is emerging as a crucial open standard that facilitates communication and integration between various AI tools and software. It acts as a ‘universal translator’ for AI agents, enabling seamless connections between AI tools and services, such as Figma integration and Supabase Postgres database management. This standardization is expected to streamline AI development and integration, similar to how USB-C has unified connectors for various devices.
These new offerings expand on Informatica’s existing AI innovation history, which includes CLAIRE® GPT, CLAIRE® Copilot, and GenAI blueprints for major cloud ecosystem partners. The company’s strategic approach to ‘Agentic AI’ is evident in its CLAIRE® Agents, a suite of autonomous digital assistants designed to augment enterprise data management. These agents leverage advanced AI reasoning and planning models to automate complex data operations, including data ingestion, lineage tracking, and data quality assurance.
CLAIRE Agents are built on open standards, including MCP, and are fully integrated with Informatica’s Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) platform, promising enhanced productivity, data accuracy, and scalability. Informatica has also announced expanded partnerships with companies like Databricks, Microsoft, and NVIDIA to further enhance its AI-powered cloud data management platform and provide a comprehensive data foundation for future analytics and AI workloads.

Industry analysts, such as Stewart Bond from IDC, note that while vendors in the data intelligence and integration space have long promoted ‘intelligent automation’ as AI, the rise of phenomena like ChatGPT is prompting organizations to seek out ‘real AI’ capabilities beyond just rules-based automation. Informatica’s integration of generative AI into its CLAIRE engine, which has been learning from big data since 2017, is expected to significantly boost its intelligence by enabling it to learn from more than just trained data experts.
