India is on the cusp of a significant workforce transformation, with agentic artificial intelligence (AI) poised to redefine 10.35 million jobs by 2030, according to the recently released ServiceNow AI Skills Research 2025, conducted in association with Pearson. This monumental shift is expected to not only optimize existing roles but also generate over 3 million new tech jobs within the same timeframe.
The report underscores India’s proactive stance in AI adoption, revealing that approximately 25% of Indian enterprises are already in an advanced phase of AI transformation, surpassing regional counterparts like Singapore (20%) and Australia (21%). Indian firms are moving beyond pilot projects to fully integrated AI operations, embedding intelligent agents across core workflows and scaling rapidly.
Sumeet Mathur, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, ServiceNow India Technology and Business Center, stated, “India’s AI journey is at a defining moment with agentic AI reshaping the workforce and redefining 10.35 million roles while creating over 3 million new tech jobs by 2030.” He further added, “India has a generational opportunity to lead globally by developing AI-ready talent, redesigning workflows, and reorienting business models around continuous innovation.”
The research identifies a new category of companies, termed ‘AI Pacesetters,’ who are leading this transformation by focusing on five key areas: a clear AI vision, platform-first thinking, the right talent mix, robust governance, and scaled agentic AI implementation. These pacesetters have reported significant improvements, with 57% experiencing higher productivity and efficiency, and those who restructured workflows with AI seeing up to a 63% boost in productivity.
Agentic AI is set to redefine various roles across industries. High-automation roles, such as change managers and payroll clerks, will see AI agents taking over routine coordination. Conversely, high-augmentation roles, including implementation consultants and system administrators, will increasingly involve collaboration with AI rather than competition. The sectors anticipated to experience the highest impact from this transformation are manufacturing (8 million jobs), retail (7.6 million jobs), and education (2.5 million jobs).

Despite the promising outlook, challenges remain. The report highlights data security and fragmentation as the biggest roadblocks for Indian enterprises, with many struggling with data silos, inconsistent governance, and cross-functional misalignment. However, with the world’s largest youth population and a dynamic digital economy, India is well-positioned to leverage this AI wave to foster a smarter, more innovative workforce. Mathur emphasized that the era of scattered pilots is over, and global competitiveness now demands bold execution, integrated strategy, and genuine human-AI collaboration built on trust, transparency, and skill.
