IITPSA Launches 2025 President’s Awards, Highlighting AI-Driven Excellence in South African ICT

The Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) has officially opened nominations for its highly anticipated 2025 President’s Awards. These accolades are designed to celebrate exceptional vision, innovation, and leadership within the South African Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, with a particular emphasis on ‘Excellence in an AI-Driven World’.

The awards seek to honor individuals who are actively shaping the future of the profession in an era where artificial intelligence is profoundly redefining industries, work, and society. Pearl Pasi, President of the IITPSA, underscored the significance of the theme, stating, ‘Technology, and in particular AI, is accelerating at an unprecedented pace, creating new opportunities, challenges, and ethical considerations. The IITPSA President’s Awards honour those who not only excel technically, but also lead with integrity and purpose in navigating this landscape’.

Nominations are open to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the ICT profession in South Africa through various avenues, including leadership, innovation, teaching, research, or community engagement. The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 19, 2025, at 17:00. The winners will be unveiled at a prestigious awards breakfast scheduled for November 2025 in Johannesburg.

Key award categories for the 2025 IITPSA President’s Awards include:

The Visionary CIO Award: Recognizes a Chief Information Officer who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in leveraging IT to support, grow, and transform businesses, or who has established best practices in implementing technology solutions.

The Technology Excellence Award: Presented to an individual or team for outstanding or innovative use of technology within an organization, or for exhibiting technological excellence that has delivered measurable benefits for businesses or the South African economy.

IT Personality Award: Honors a game-changer in South Africa’s ICT space over the past year.

Social Responsibility/Community Award: Acknowledges individuals whose IT efforts are benefiting communities and helping to bridge the digital divide.

Dynamism in ICT Youth Award (Under 25): Celebrates a rising star who has demonstrated exceptional potential or achievement in ICT within the last two to five years.

In a notable addition, the IITPSA Women in IT Chapter (WIIT) has introduced a new category for 2025: the Woman in IT Excellence Award. This award aims to recognize professional excellence, ethical leadership, mentorship, and a commitment to transforming the ICT sector, particularly in promoting the visibility and participation of women. The Member Ambassador Award, recognizing exceptional commitment and effort by an IITPSA member to serve as an ambassador of the institute, will also be presented.
