IITM Pravartak and TimesPro Launch Advanced Certificate in Applied AI & Deep Learning to Address India’s Skill Gap

TLDR: IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, in collaboration with TimesPro, has launched a 7-month online Advanced Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning. This program aims to equip professionals with essential AI skills, covering Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, MLOps, and including a capstone project, to meet the growing demand for AI talent in India.

IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Madras, has officially launched its Advanced Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning. This comprehensive 7-month online program, developed in partnership with TimesPro, is designed to bridge the significant skill gap in the rapidly expanding field of Artificial Intelligence in India. The program is set to commence on September 13, 2025, with the final application deadline on September 6, 2025.

The curriculum is meticulously structured to provide participants with a deep understanding of data analytics and advanced deep learning techniques. Key tools and technologies covered include Python for data manipulation and analysis, essential statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and MLOps. A highlight of the program is a dedicated one-month capstone project, allowing learners to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world datasets, including text and image-based problems. The program also incorporates modules on generative AI and cybersecurity concepts.

This initiative comes at a crucial time, as the global AI market is projected to grow from USD 189 billion in 2023 to over USD 4.8 trillion by 2033, according to UNCTAD. In India, reports such as the India Skills Report 2024 and ‘India’s AI Revolution: A Roadmap to Viksit Bharat’ forecast a demand for nearly one million AI professionals by 2026, with the Indian AI market expected to reach USD 28.8 billion by 2025. IITM Pravartak aims to prepare learners for diverse roles such as data scientist, ML engineer, AI/ML research scientist, business intelligence analyst, and deep learning specialist.
