IIT Gandhinagar Unveils Three New Postgraduate Diploma Programs Focused on Generative AI and Advanced Tech

TLDR: IIT Gandhinagar, in collaboration with Futurense Technologies, has launched three new six-month, fully residential postgraduate diploma programs. These programs, commencing in February 2026, specialize in AI and Agentic AI Engineering, GenAI and Data Science Engineering, and AI-Powered Software Engineering with Cloud. Designed to provide skills equivalent to two years of industry experience through intensive bootcamp-style learning, the initiative aims to address critical skill gaps in India’s digital economy.

The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar), a prominent institution ranked 25th in the Engineering category by NIRF, has announced the introduction of three cutting-edge, fully residential postgraduate diploma programs. Launched through the IIT Gandhinagar Competency Development Foundation in partnership with Futurense Technologies, these six-month programs are set to commence in February 2026.

The new offerings include a ‘PG Diploma in AI and Agentic AI Engineering’, a ‘PG Diploma in GenAI and Data Science Engineering’, and a ‘PG Diploma in AI-Powered Software Engineering with Cloud’. These programs are meticulously designed to cultivate industry-ready professionals in the rapidly evolving fields of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Cloud Engineering.

Each program is structured around a ‘build, deploy, scale’ philosophy, delivering over 600 hours of intensive bootcamp-style learning. This rigorous curriculum is intended to equip learners with expertise comparable to approximately two years of practical industry experience, transforming them into engineers capable of building and deploying enterprise-grade solutions from day one. The learning model emphasizes practical application, with 70% project-based learning and 30% faculty-led instruction.

Admission to these highly selective programs is not open enrollment but follows a rigorous selection process. Prospective candidates must undergo the All India National Proficiency Test (AINPT), a nationwide entrance examination, followed by multiple interview rounds. Each program will admit a focused cohort of 60 highly motivated and capable learners.

Participants will experience a fully immersive residential life on IIT Gandhinagar’s 400-acre, eco-friendly campus. Here, they will benefit from mentorship by IIT faculty and seasoned industry leaders from global companies, including Fortune 500 organizations. The pedagogy integrates innovative initiatives such as AI clinics, ideas labs, deconstructing products through backward engineering, problem-solving exercises, extensive AI-led application building, and competitive coding.

Prof. Rajat Moona, Director of IIT Gandhinagar, emphasized the institute’s commitment, stating, ‘At IIT Gandhinagar, our mission is to build future-ready talent for and from India, professionals who do not just learn technology but apply and create with it. These programs combine real-world engineering depth, hands-on innovation, and a fully immersive IIT campus experience that shapes the next generation of India’s tech workforce.’

Raghav Gupta, Founder and CEO of Futurense Technologies, added, ‘IIT Gandhinagar represents the new generation of India’s IITs, agile, applied and innovation-first. Through this collaboration, we are building engineers who can think in systems, not silos.’ The collaboration also includes Futurense’s industry-integration model, offering direct mentorship from over 40 global CXOs and CTOs, networking opportunities via a Breakfast Club, and continuous career guidance. Upon successful completion, graduates will receive 100% placement support and gain Executive Alumni status, providing access to IIT’s extensive professional network.
